Hi Rosemary, I've had a reply from Dave who is the freecen coordinator and also freereg coordinator. "FreeREG are doing well, I ordered Cd's for a small village, delivered from USA within 3 weeks, CEN are having problems I know, due to pressure of work For this reason I'm pushing REG more for a while Dave |

Hi Rosemary, sorry to hear you still havent got a cd. Freecen were inundated with help from this site and they were desperately trying to get copies of cds. Mine came from archive cd books, not sure if they donated it or somone bought it for freecen. All the free sites are in need of help and the more that gets on the more people who will be helped. As a transcriber you are voluntary and so are the coordinators. What area did you ask to do? Best wishes, Jo. |

Hi Tracy, I do know that they are in need of help. I know that they are trying to get records on CDs. And as Maz said, the readers are available free in larger libraries if you can manage to get there. If you still want to help I would try emailing again or join the mailing list for it and ask on there. The mailing list link is on the home page of freereg. Best wishes, Jo. |

Hi Jo well I contacted the Sussex Co ordinator weeks ago offering my help - stating I did not have microfiche but time and a computer and enthusiasm. I have not had a reply and just assumed they did not want/need anymore help. Rgds Tracey Kennedy |

Hi Jo Dave contacted me within hours of you sending my address. I sent him an email back but have heard nothing since. Is he a very busy man or do you think it's worth dropping him another line? Jeanette |

Hi Jo, can you pick which areas you want to transcribe,I have just joined Lancashire parish register society and there are a couple of areas that I would like to look at that they have not yet done, so could kill 2 birds with one stone if I could do transcription for lprs and freereg. John |

No worry. Email one of the people who I've said they have CDs they can give you/loan you. The site doesnt explain it properly. I will email you with their addresses so you can check out from the "horses mouth" so to speak! Jo. |

Have just checked their website, and you either need to buy a microfiche reader or use those in the LDS or Records Office. I don't have the former and I don't live anywhere near the appropriate venues. Ah well. |
