You can have the Norton site scan your computer at this address: http://www.symantec(.)com/techsupp/activedata/virus_check.jsp Remember to remove the ( ) Click the link on this page that says SYMANTEC SECURITY CHECK WEBSITE. The first thing some viruses do is disable your anti-virus and this might be why you're having problems. Judy |

Kim Have you read about this error message? it says the host file has probably been changed by a virus, it gives a link that will scan your computer. then it gives a step by step guide of what to do with the host file Kim |

Kim, if you go on google and type in Norton 2002 technical support, click on frist one and it brings up a part of Symantec, click on support and that brings up another window has subscription troubleshooting, it is an automated question and answer thing, just sign in as guest and put in your error code and it gives a list of things to try. But they say there is no phone or email support for Norton 2002, if that was obvious at the beginning I would never have bothered to renew, because upgrade would have been more sensible . I don't know why theymake the whole process so difficult, there must be an easier way. Kim |

Kim, Don't be angry with yourself, I would not have known that they do not give continuing support if it wasn't for your problem, I certainly cannot find anywhere where they state it. I did check out their site a bit more and it does state that most of their products have a 60 day money back guarentee. Think I will upgrade next year when my sub comes up for renewal, it seems to work out at about the same price £34.99. Sue:-) |

I am so annoyedwith myself as well as them. It seems they take your money, without a care, but don't tell you what a rough deal you get till afterwards. And there help and support is non existant unless you upgrade, more money for them. icertainly thought i was doing the right thing but how wrong can you be. They wouldn't even accept my credit cart and wanted an extra £11.00 to pay by cheque! Seems to me that they win all ways round and for some reason I paid Irish vat at 21% too. I think sticking with the free ones or at least the ones that have technical backup for EVERYONE would have been better, o what an idiot Iam! Kim |

Kim, I see what you mean, I just tried the contact and 2002 no longer supported!!! The best suggestion I can come up with is to contact their UK branch by phone and 'give them hell!!' Details are: Symantec United Kingdom Symantec (UK) Ltd. Hines Meadow St. Cloud Way Maidenhead Berkshire SL6 8XB tel +44 (0) 1628 592 222 fax +44 (0)1628 592 393 Web Site: www.symantec.*co.*uk Sorry I couldn't help more Sue:-) |

yes but all I ever get is the lu1814 message whatever liveupdate is on express or interactive! . I even tried switching it all off disconnecting the broadband from the computer and restarting the computer, I've gone over everything and to top it all have paid the money and they say there is no on line or telephnoe support for Norton 2002 , so what exactly have I paid for a useless 10 digit number , should I frame it or paint it gold or something. grrr ! kim |

Kim, Did you follow the instructions for entering subscription number after you changed the Live update? Sue:-) |

Thanks Judy and Sue, Judy have already done all those check boxes! from your other postings on thread. Sue , I printed that out and have changed Live update settings turned of and restarted and makes not a bit of difference. Have even tried emailing them but the mail has been returned unsupported address. I think will just find a rock to crawl under, now taken me best part of a day nd I am no further forward than when I started except about £30 poorer for nothing?! Why am I so stupid!! And why is the *** computer such a pain! Kim |

Kim.....if you haven't already, try changing the setting on your PC as follows and then try the key again.... Fixing “Website Can’t Be Found” and other Site Error Messages More than likely you have trouble with accessing quite a few sites.....particularly getting the message "website can't be found" among a few other error messages. Try the following and it should solve your problem. 1. Go to START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4. Change NUMBER OF DAYS TO KEEP IN HISTORY to “0” and click APPLY 5. A box appears with tabs labeled across the top. Click on ADVANCED. 6. Scroll down to the sub-heading SECURITY. 7. Make sure the following has check marks next to it: Use USE SSL 2.0, USE SSL 3.0 and USE TLS 1.0. 8. Also make sure you check off EMPTY TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE WHEN BROWSER IS CLOSED. More than likely USE TLS 1.0 is not checked of and it should be. This will give you the error messages, as well as a few others, that will prevent you from viewing web sites and the error you are getting. Make sure you empty your cookies cache as well as temporary internet files once in a while, too, as this slows down your computer. |

Kim, When you get asked to enter your question, type in "How do I enter my subscription key" It will tell you what to do if you get the error code LU1814 at the bottom of the page Sue:-) |

Thanks Sue, but the product is registered to renew it I need to enter the subscription key, but the error lu1814 keeps coming up not the pge that lets u enter the subscription code , so it still reads expired despite costing over £30 TO Renew. I've followed the website instruction to the letter and put live update into interactive mode and still no hope and no box !! boo hoo... Kim |

Kim, I have Norton 2003 but assume this will work for you too: Right click on Norton symbol at bottom of screen. Click on HELP Click on PRODUCT REGISTRATION It then says 'click to register a product that is listed above as unregistered' You should then be able to put your code in Sue:-) |
