I would never stop using this site its helped me noend and I have made lots of email friends through it, and when I get a brickwall in my history it gives me something to do looking for other peoples families.(I do go out to work as well not entirely computor attached!!!! sandra |

Reading the topics when time allows educates us all (for free). In this genealogy you never know when or what you will uncover and what information/advice given previously to others may subsequently be very useful in your own circumstances. Keep on posting everyone you never know who's brick wall you may demolish!!!! |

Oh, I must add that I have had a lot of help from people on rootsweb mailing lists and from the great war discussion forum on the 1914-1918(.)net - both absolutely free, no £5 or £7-50 - and some other sites. Joy |

Generally speaking, unless the topic looked of personal interest, then I would only read it if it had had no, or two or three answers, in case I can help. Joy |

often wondered that myself, don't look at everything posted, would take too much time, nor do I always add a reply, sometimes got nothing to add, can't help, or again lack of time. Does anyone get put off when you see say more than 30 replies? they take ages to sift through too. |

Once I'm on the boards I read all of the topics from that day. You never know when that nugget of info may be of use. |

Hi Sandra Do not get disheartened we do read the themes. Often we either cannot help or others before us have replied with the same info. So keep trying. Perhaps in the meantime until GC?GR does something we could just reply with read topic.! Pat |

I read the boards from top to bottom and over again. I usually only add to this board if I have anything to offer - which sadly isn't often. I agree that having a 'viewed ' counter would be a great idea. Most other forums do. Magsxx |

Yes I read most of the threads people post. Mainly because I am interested in what other members are looking for and to see if anybody has the same stubbling blocks as myself. I also try to help please with suggestions to help them progess with their research. I have been researching my family tree for only 3 months and my knowledge is expanding every day and I hope I can pass this on whereever possible. Nicky |

I agree, I think we should show how many times the threads are viewed. It does seem a bit disheartening to people who put up good info and then only one reply appears. Or even when you put a query/request and you don't get many replies. Here's hoping GC/GR will oblige. Margaret |

Quite agree. On other sites there are forums in which one can see how many times one's message has been viewed. Another thing to suggest to the powers that be! Joy |
