hi everyone ! I'm glad that you all love a mystery! haha My fathers birth cert states that Barnet was a cabinet maker. Born as far as we know c1869 slask in poland. Yetta born around 1872/4 in germany. it gets worse though.....there is also another son , jack born c1905 (ish) w think mile end area. Any ideas will be great.

Just had a look at the original document, it definately says Barnard, 33, Cabinet Maker, Germany NK. Also had children Katie 9, Alick 5 and one that I think says Morray, 13 If you want a look at it, let me know and I will email it. Sam

Regarding what Samantha said about Joey's parents being Barnard and Hester and knowing the abysmal transcriptions on the 1901 census, I am willing to bet that this is in fact Barnett and Yetta, either misheard or mispelt. Does it give Barnard's place of birth as Poland? LN PS If you think Hester is a long way from Yetta, I have a Smoothy who became Lenorthey and a Jeuel who became Denel on this same census.

There were in fact quite a number of Barnetts/Barnards born in Russia/Poland. Strange but true.

Also in the index, possibly relevant: Katie Koski 9 London Whitechapel Middlesex Tottenham I know you thought the family was in East London at the time of the census, but perhaps on census night they were staying in Tottenham? No sign of Barnett or Yetta. Barnett doesn't sound very Polish to me, could it have been an Anglicised version of something else? Do you have any idea about when he and Yetta were born, and was Yetta Polish as well? LN

I have just found this Joey Koski also, unfortunately his parents are shown as Barnard and Hester.

Barnett Kosky was born in Poland that is all we know. There is a Barnett Kosky birth registration but it is not the right one.

Do you have Barnett Kosky's birth details. If not this is on Ancestry Birth June qtr. 1877 District: London City Vol: 1c Page: 9
