The trouble is they only check the first two lines of your order form unless you specifically ask for the whole thing to be checked. |

Heard that the backlog was due to the recent programme on the telly "Who do you think you are" it seems its started a flood of people doing family history, still if the demands there maybe someone will start thinking about releasing the 1911 census early. heres hoping Len |

So relieved that I'm not the only one! Ordered 2 death certs on 19 November and still not received them. Its the first time I've ordered on-line (usually go to the FRC, but couldn't get there this time) so it's sod's law really! Our post is not very reliable at the moment as I keep getting letters for other roads/other numbers etc - just hope mine hasn't gone astray and then been binned. Maz. XX |

I thought I'd bypass the GRO this time given the back log so sent all the details to the register office.. Got a very polite email back from them giving me the website for the GRO and telling me exactly how to order a cert and how much it would cost me! Lou |

When i went on the web site and saw how long the estimate wait would be, i went to the local registry office web site instead. And ok, couldnt order on-line but could print off the order form and have requested 2 marriage certificates from there so far and they have been sent back with 3-4 days! So big pat on the back for Dewsbury RO! Also - it seems to be cheaper - they only cost £7.00 each - i was told it cost more from GRO? |

Mine from Tower Hamlets came within 4 days. This last time I was too lazy to do a letter, sae and £7 cheque so ordered on line from GRO. Wish I hadnt! |

Hoorah!! Two marriage certificates ordered 20th Nov finally turned up today. Bad news is, one of them has different fathers name to the one I was expecting and have been researching!!! Marriage cert is 100% definately the right one, I found people on a census and 'assumed' them to be correct. Infact fathers name on the marriage cert now proves otherwise! Moral of the story is - don't get carried away finding people on census etc until you have documentary proof they they are correct. Otherwise, could end up like me spending HOURS looking at the wrong people!! Oh well, back to the drawing board. Sam |

Lou up North, I ordered 5 certs.from the Family Records Centre London,Post out date given 8th Dec.I got 4 of them today so hopefully yours will be sent out the date you were given,I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!! :-) Gwenxx |

My despatch date, for 7 of them, was 3rd December - they still have not arrived- nary a one! Ordered 2 more today - how trusting can you get! - despatch 19th December it said. So will probbly be February. They say patience is a virtue! Can I have some for Christmas please. Rosi |

I was also given despatch date of 3rd Dec and am still waiting - my fingernails completely gone now!! This certificate will tell me if I have been barking up the completely wrong tree!! |

Hi everyone, they must be getting better, my 2 for despatch date 3rd Dec arrived on 11th Dec. Still waiting for 2 for despatch 9th Dec. So fingers crossed they will be here next week. |
