Jean Sounds about right! I think the program was just alerting you to a possible mistake. But obviously it's not a mistake. Jeanette x |

thanks for that jeanette. Your right it doesn't make sense to me!! As in some cases he has wrote step son. In others it really does mean as todays son in law. I wonder if the other ones could have actually been adopted?? nosiness is getting the better of me now!! lol Sorry if this one has actually been answered before but (here we go again another stupid one):- On my disk there is 3 files all with over 450 images in them. (?) I am about to complete one file/ED do I start a new spreadsheet for each one? sorry to be a pain! judith |

Morning Judith! Keep on using the same spreadsheet as long as it is the same piece number, eg. RG9/1234. Hope that makes sense! Jeanette x |

hi i have got to the end of a parish which ends on folio 99 sch 85. the next page (100) is an example, then there is the pages where they add it all up. after this is the new parish on folio 102 page 1 shedule 1. i am asking a really dumb question i know but worried i am going to get it wrong. do i ignore the example page and carry on with the folio 102 page 1 shedule 1 with new parish. is there anything else i need to do when starting a new parish? thankyou shirley |

Morning Shirley! Yes, ignore the adding up pages, example pages etc. Start with Folio 102, Page 1, Scedule 1. The only thing to remember when starting a new parish is to enter the name of the parish in column A. You will find the name of the parish on the top left hand side of page 1. Jeanette x |

Advice please! I have an address which states sch 208 coke ovens name etc but when it gets to relationship the first one states 'sleeping at' then the other 40+ names have 'sinder ovens'. in occupations it says they are all 'coke fillers at colliery'. Could any one advise what I should type in relation column please. thanks Judith |

Hi Judith As there is no abbreviation for either sleeping at or sinder ovens, then this is one for the checker to decide upon! lol. Put '- in column L and an x in column P and repeat for all of them. Then in column Y put something like ?relationship. But just do this bit for the first person on the list as it will be obvious to the checker that it means all of them. I'll just keep my fingers crossed I don't get your piece to check! lol Jeanette x |

Morning Jackie! Sorry I wasn't around last night. My internet connection wasn't working. Those 2 numbers on the right hand side - the bigger, bolder one is the folio number which you need to put in column C. The smaller one is the page number which goes in column D. If you look at the next page you will see that there is only a small number in the top left hand corner. This is the page number. You will need to use the folio number from the previous page. Each folio number covers two pages. Hope that makes sense! Jeanette x |

Hi Marion Can you give me something to go on so I can take a look on Ancestry please. I'll need to know which years census. Then I'll want either the piece number, folio number and page number. Or, the name of someone from the page you are looking at with an age and a birthplace. Cheers! Jeanette x |

Hi Jeanette, RG93255 1861.PARISH OF ALMONDBURY. folio 42 page 8. Also if you can view it you can see he is putting numbers after the dog kennel i have been including these do you think this is correct. He has also NOT put the schedule no' next to the next household.. do i put it at correct house or type as i find... Sorry to ask all these questions but it seems this chap has done it as quick as he could and blow the mistakes Thanks Marion |

Hi Marion I've had a look at your James Copley and wife and what I would do is put the schedule number, 40, in column E, Dog Kennel in column G, and in column H, I would put an x rather than a u, then nothing else. This way, when the checking program is run, it will stop at that entry and the checker can sort out what needs to be entered. As to your other query, those numbers that he is writing next to Dog Kennel would appear to be house numbers. These need to be entered in column F. I think the fact that he has not always written them in the correct place is because he hasn't been concentrating on the job in hand! lol. So, for example, on the same page, if we take the Best family, I think that should read schedule 43, house number 773, Dog Kennel. Of course though Marion it is entirely up to you whether you would query that! And just to bear in mind, in those days some of the houses in a street had house numbers and others didn't. Hope this helps Jeanette x |
