Thanks, Sandra - you've earned your surname! Ancestry seems to count visits, whether it's the same image or another, so I seem to have come to the end of my allowance before seeing them all. As I said in reaction to the first - I think I really shall have to succumb - at the very least to the free trial - to experience what everyone seems so enthusiastic about. It's certainly useful stuff - I'm very grateful for all your work on my (& Debbie's) behalf. Yes, there is a lot to get through - I'll get some more done when I get home. I'm borrowing a friend's computer at the moment after doing a bit of singing to help out with music technology - recording. many thanks Christine |

Hello All An update: With all your help (plus being seduced into joining Ancetry uk, myself!) I've got almost all the likely info, short of buying certificates, for the HAWTON family: DoB, PoB, DoM, PoM, some DoD, Censuses from 1871-1901. Some earlier Census stuff would be useful if I can identify the correct people - e.g. Robert HAWTON and Mary Jane nee BRYANT as married in 1861: St Germans, Devonport, Portsea??? as children in 1841 and 1851 (both born 1829-31) St Germans Will trawl my own bookmarks but extra eyes would be useful. With some help towards finding the imaginative versions of HICKEY in the censuses and their transcriptions (HEEKY & HECKY!) I'm at much the same stage with that family. James HICKEY b 1845 City of London - in 1851 & 1861 censuses. The WENHAM family of Tonbridge has proved surprisingly elusive. I have some lists of names but nothing to pin them down as a family, apart for the IGI baptism for Deborah and using the ref to find some siblings. Nothing for Deborah (b 1844 Dec Q Tonbridge) in 1851 or 1861. Many thanks for your help. I reckon we'll have a very creditable sketch for Debbie come her birthday next week. Having got all this info together - I thought I should set it out in a separate thread in case there's anyone who can pick up on the info for their own trees. Christine |
