Can anyone help? I am looking for Thomas Gofs, but have very little information. His son James Gofs (22) was married on 22 December 1850 at the Parish Church of St Mary Leicester, He married Mary Hart also age 22. Listed as father was Thomas Gofs, his profession was shoemaker, it does not say deceased. Witness listed as Harriet Gofs and Thomas Hart. On the 2nd marriage certificate for James the surname is spelt Goss and was from then onwards. Am trying to find if James had any sisters and brothers, checked the 1861 directoryfor Leicester, has a Thomas Goss, but think that it is not the correct one as the profession is totally incorrect. Anyone with any ideas Thanks Jo.

Mike, Thanks anyway - can't think why they might have moved Great Grandma - she only had a small headstone, which as far as I can remember was in good nick - and nothing that might need mowing round!! Did have a number for enquiring about Gilroes, but in all the mess with the builders it's got itself into a VERY safe place - plus they need more detailed death date than my dad can remember. Will try your suggestions. Maggie

Greeting’s Maggie…… Sorry but my burial details for Welford Road only go to 1890. But I did whizz the name through other disks but drew a blank ….sorry… Now upsetting for you not to find one of your relatives at Gilroes I do believe they have had a surge on Headstones of late (Health & Safety) and are trying to get it so there is not any surroundings so they can mow it easier….. Or I think that both Cemeteries have “ Friends Of …….) The Secretary of the Friends of Welford Road Cemetery, C. E. Mike, Seeing your reply on another thread about Welford Road cemetery made me wonder if it's easy to find the records for my great grandparents - George Reginald Vine Tidcombe, and Phoebe Alice Tidcombe - George died in 1924 I think, and Phoebe some time after that - think they are on the 'back wall' of the cemetery!! Don't suppose you know a way of accessing Gilroes records? Went to a funeral a while back and went to say hello to other great grandma Agnes Crawford Butler (died sometime in 1940's or thereabouts I think) - and she'd gone!! I swear they have moved her!! She was on the right of the main drive up, but I walked up and down several times and couldn't find her - trouble is, with Butler being such a common name, she ain't gonna be easy to find!! Still pedalling, whistling and smiling..........!! Maggie ;-)
