Hi Mike. The two HAWOOD sons William and Joseph at Hash Road Oldbury are Edward's siblings. They seem to be visiting. I found Edward in 1871 as HAYWOOD with these two sons and his two daughters born in Leicester but not his wife Mary(Tyers) Heawood. I can't seem to find any trace of EDWARD and the two daughters or wife in 1881. I dont know why William and Joseph were visiting in Oldbury. The WHEAT family in Hash Road Oldbury do not seem to be relations. All the other Heawoods mentioned by you are ours, I have been able to trace these from the details you gave the other day. I have been able to find out such a lot since I had your replies to my first request. Thanks for all your help.

Ey up - it's me again - with another question (must get over and buy those maps Mike talks about) Wondering now where Blue Boar Lane was. My great grandma lived there as a child. Also - if anyone's feeling generous - I have John Lilley at 15 Blue Boar Lane on the 1871 census. He was 83 then so had been around for a bit. Wondering if anyone has him on an earlier census...any information appreciated and will reciprocate with Coventry area if anyone needs it. Many thanks Sheila

Hi all A question for everyone and really to see if this has happened to Bev. Have tied in rels here and there and previously it was to do with a Stretton and Hurst getting married and if I remember right it unearthed a Stretton for Bev. Have just received a cert for the marriage of Charles Hurst and Jemima Stretton which is on the St Margs reg but Stretton as written in the banns is spelt Street on the wedding certificate and the same goes for the witnesses. In fact I read the other witness as Shelton instead of Stretton. Am lost as this has never happened before, need help!!! Elaine

( umm.... now where have we heard Belgrave before William Jr's Wife.... could this be her maiden name? ) Still no luck with Edward..... I've tried War graves Site... There was a burial off the NBI 8th. May 1879. Edward Haywood Aged 42. Sheffield. I did wonder if Edward was away looking for work (Carpenter) on the night of the Census 1881. That ties in with Son's (William) Occupation of Painter. Also had a close look at that 1871. Census and it looks like it states Edward was a WIDOW Aged 37. MIKE.

Margaret Report 30 Mar 2005 14:50

Hi Mike. Thanks again for interesting info. I think the William Heawood in Braunstone age 52 is brother to my gt.grandad the illusive EDWARD. You may be right in that 1871 Edward could have just been away from Oldbury working, I saw that he was a widow. Can't trace a death for Mary Heawood (Tyers) his wife but youngest son Joseph was born in 1869 and then she was not on 1871 census. I dont think PC Joseph Haywood was one of ours, no relation to the long arm of the law. The William HAYWOOD on 1891 census at 20 Elm St is grandfather. He had 2 more daughters in Belgrave this was before he moved back to Birmingham and subsequently Smethwick. By the way thanks also to Beverley for info about address in Hash Road Oldbury. I hadn't seen that house number before. I see mention about nudge forward. Don't understand this. I will do it if I know how. Margaret
