Thank you so much Dianne, I've been on this most of today after new info spurred me on, so will be off to bed for a fresh start in the morning! .................... in a few minutes! Just found out that there is a Bristol in Somerset so now I'm wondering if the first transcriber of the census took it upon themselves to change what they thought was a mistake........I'll just have a quick look.....................not that I'm obsessed or anything! Good Night Mandy |

Thanks again Crista I am really confused now! I am doing this research for the ex mother in law(well my kids too). I will see her tomorrow coz it is her 93rd birthday, so I will have to ask her if she knows anything about this. She often remembers things after I've told her! Like spending hours trying to find her Aunty Pat but could only come up with Martha. 'Oh yes I remember now my mother told me when I was a child that PAT is short for MARTHA'????????????????????? Thanks again Mandy |

Hi Mandy Firstly, I don't mind that you mailed me direct. No problem. I had searched all my sites for all variations/permutations I could think of for Beaumont. When I looked back at your message I then checked what Crista had organised for you. I then re-searched for Bennet, and surprise surprise, for some reason still couldn't find his birth. However on LDS I found some stuff for his wife Harriet as follows: Harriet Hooper born 1842 Bristol Gloucester daughter of James Hooper and Elizabeth Harriett (2 t's) baptised 14th August 1842 Bristol St Philip & St Jacob Gloucester dau of James Hooper & Elizabeth (Note the name change again Hopper/Hooper) Don't want to make life easy your family do they??!!! Harriet's whole family: Dad James Hooper born 1797 Minehead Somerset Mum Elizabeth Hooper born 1799 Bossington Somerset Sis Elizabeth Hooper born 1827 Minehead Somerset Sis Sarah Hooper born 1831 Minehead Somerset Sis Elizabeth born 1834 Minehead (maybe the 1st one died) Bro Richard Hooper born 1836 Minehead Somerset Self Harriet born 1842 Bristol Gloucester Hope this helps. It opens up a new branch for you anyway. Good Luck Dianne |

Thanks Dianne (no I didn't get to bed but will now!) I think I have been looking at all of this too closely...transcript fatigue. I am 99.9% certain that his real name is William George Beament (I think) so just don't understand Bennett unless he had a secret to hide!!!!! This morning I received a book about the Beaments of Crewkern with trees, guess what no William George c1847! But there are quite a few gaps. There weren't many of them but hard to research according to the book! They're not kidding!!!! I even resorted to looking for a family likeness (fairly distinctive features) and they sent photos with the book for me and I can see a resemblence. At least I have quite a bit to show the mother in law. I'll do her a chart in the morning and give it to her in her card. Thanks a lot for all of your help.........and its goodnight from me.......! OK you two what will you charge to do the rest of my tree!!!!!!! I'm obviously rubbish at it!! Thank you again and again. I'll tell you what though (and this is not a hint) Darkis had me beat. Then when I spoke to Winnie she said she had an Aunt Dorkus, well that's what it sounded like (say it with a Birmingham accent) any suggestions on what the spelling might be? I've only ever heard of Dorcas as a male name. But looking at the sisters it could have been her second name anyway. Surely not Mary Darkis!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right bed, I only had a quick last look at the board before I attempted the stairs!!! Thank you again for all of your help it has been invaluable. Mandy |

You might want to add 'BEAMAN' to your *sort of like* names list. I'm researching a BEAMAN line and have found many of the alternative names you listed as mis-spellings for my BEAMANs in offical records across several countries. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |
