I've been able to log on ok, but on 1881 gives 'no results' for every search (even John Smith, birth - all counties, residence - all counties!!!) lol! Also getting an error message page and no image when opening original images on 1901, but had no problems with 1871, or 1891! Bev

I have accesses Ancestry from a different computer and things seem fine. Some people appear to be having problems, others do not. Ancestry have obviously changed something but I don't know what. One piece of advice on the Ancestry Site message board was as follows - try it, it might work (I will give it a go when I get home). '1. clear your cache. then check to see if that makes a difference. In Netscape that is Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Cache on the menu line. For Internet Explorer that is Tools/Options/then delete temporary files. Turn off Explorer or Netscape.... and then restart the program and try the URl again. If that doesn't work...then 2. clear your cookies... you will have to re-enter your name and password for Ancestry.com (and other websites you have cookies enabled).... but this might also work.'

The problem appears to be that they have replaced the Global Search. By Global I don't mean worldwide, I mean the ability to do an exact search across all UK databases and have a list of results of number of people by that exact name in different databases on one page. (e.g. 1871 census 1, 1881 census 5, message boards 52). The search screen has been replaced by something utterly useless which gives you the option of searching by England, Wales etc and gives the same results as the search on the home page, ie a list of page after page of useless information, people listed one after the other who may have a similar name to your ancestor. I have complained on the Ancestry message board as I'm paying good money for my subscription and I am not happy about this. If it's not broke, don't fix it! Carrie

I had the same problem initially, about half an hour ago, however as I have about four links saved to Ancestry,I used a different one and I gained access to the Census etc. Regards William Russell Jones Cefn Mawr Wrexham.
