Thank you TC, that worked OK. I had been trying using all three boxes so the info didn't conform to the census data. It kept asking for a name to be supplied. Hilary |

Hi, it may be that the village is too small, so try the Baswich name instead. Go to the census you want to look at in Residence section put Staffordshire in the county box and then Baswich in the next box and see if it comes up. |

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was trying to find Milford (Staffs), part of Baswich, looking for people I knew to be there. Which boxes do you need to complete - Redsidence or birthplace? Hilary |

I've been using Ancestry for quite a while and I didn't know either! Will be useful for mis-transcribed names! I'll be able to check anything that looks like a possible. Mind you - with Ancestry's record for mis-transcription, maybe not!! Carole |

Thanks TC, This will really help with my 'going sideways'. When I get stuck I try to find siblings to add to the tree and have sometimes found more information this way. Yours Jackie |

Thats really kind of you Cheryl. Yes, its been a very hard month all round. I am trying to put it further back in my mind and yes, it does give me a lot of pleasure helping others. I guess there are two kinds of people in this world, the givers and the takers. Im very happy that for some reason everyone on this site seem to be in the first category!! Its a great shame we cant set up our own little commune - and sod the rest of them, eh? By the way Daisy, its not just on the 1861 - you can do it with any of the censuses. |

Hi TC Thanks for this, absolutely brilliant,. I had no idea you could do this. Thank you so much. I have been following your other thread and really feel for you. I hope you can take some consolation in how much help you have give everyone, even though you are having problems elsewhere. Cheryl |
