Hi all I posted a message asking for tips finding missing relies in the early hours of this morning. A Frank Gater and a Maud Gater was located for me on 1901 census. Frank Gater was aged 16 and was born in paddington abt 1885 and Maud Gater his sister was born abt 1887 in paddington. I have searched on 1837online but cannot locate them. I found a frank 1885 in stoke on trent and maud 1888 croydon. Is it common to put completely wrong place of birth on census? Also looking for a death of a Frank Gater (snr) from 1886-1901 but no luck. Thanks marie prior(nee gater)

In 1901 Mary Ann is not down as a widow, she is recorded as married.....just that Francis isn't there! Merry

hi i remeber seeing a frank gater in 1901 census who was in a workhouse. Would that happen if his family are not in the workhouse? Also why wouldnt they register the birth of one of their children, and why wouldnt he be on a census? Im considering frank and mary as parents of my gt grandfather john henry gater because of the area they live in, the fact on john wedding cert it had father frank gater and a witness was a francis gater. Hi Marie I have found them on the 1891 census at 133 Windsor Street, Paddington [St Peters] Francis, Head was 37, a Painter and Decorator born in Staffordshire Mary A, wife is 35 born in Oxfordshire Thame? Hi people have been really helpful in finding some rellies for me on 1901, 1891,1871 census. Can i be cheeky and ask for help in locating them on 1881 and or 1861 census. They are Samuel Gater abt 1830, Francis Gater abt 1857or 1854, James H Gater abt 1865, Francis M (dau) abt 1869 and Samuel Gater abt 1853, Charlotte Gater abt 1831.
