I’m trying to find the details of a Lauria/Louisa Cook born c1854. 16/04/1878 she married Albert Harry Vivash in Bentley, Southampton. The marriage certificate has her age down as 24 and his as 27. Her father was George Cook and marked as deceased. I thought I’d found her birth but when the certificate arrived the father was James (Louisa Jane b14/05/1856 Alton, Southampton – if this is a relly of yours let me know and I’ll scan the cert for you!) Any help or tips appreciated |

No. I've also looked under Harry Albert as well as Albert Harry as it appears his name might have been swapped round. Chers Di |

Unfortunately I've no idea where Louisa was born. Albert was born in Romsey in 1849. They had a daughter Ada Jessie Vivash b1877 in Binstead, Alton, Southampton (my great grand mother) |

You mentioned the marriage in Bentley, Soton. Frankly I didn't believe you!!!! (Because I had never heard of it LOL!!) However, (eating my hat as usual) I found this, which I thought was a mistranscription of their dau's marriage: Name: Vivash, Ava Jessie Record Type: Marriages Quarter: June Year: 1898 District: East Preston County: Sussex Volume: 2b Page: 767 Spouse : Arthur Withyman JENKINS Found them in 1901 and she IS going by the name AVA, not ADA!! Arthur Jenkins abt 1871 Worthing, Sussex, England Head Aldershot Military in Stanhope and Wellington Lines Hampshire >>>>Ava Jenkins abt 1879 Bentley, Hampshire, England Wife Aldershot Military in Stanhope and Wellington Lines Hampshire Florence Jenkins abt 1893 Aldershot, Hampshire, England Daughter Aldershot Military in Stanhope and Wellington Lines Hampshire William Jenkins abt 1900 Worthing, Sussex, England Son Aldershot Military in Stanhope and Wellington Lines It was the word Bentley for place of birth that made me think this is the right Ava/Ada. Crawling towards the parents now.................... Merry |

Hehehe - when I first saw Bentley a vision of an old card flashed before my eyes! The Vivash side has been fairly straight forward as it's an unusual name. It's the Cook side that is really giving me a headache. Thanks Di |

Merry Not yet. For the first time I now know that Ada/Ava had siblings! With what you've just comeup with I've just found: Name: Cook, Sarah Louisa Record Type: Births Quarter: September Year: 1853 District: Farnham County: Hampshire Surrey Volume: 2a Page: 58 (click to see others on page) Do you think she could have taken her middle name? Again thanks for helping on this - you've given me that 'buzz' back where I had been sooooo stuck Di |
