That's it....that's it!!!! It's maybe not the payment that has the name but the action brought against him by the ''wronged'' husband: ''Enticement of Spouse'' I can find that this was repealed in Ireland in 1981 along with ''Breach of Promise'' too.....Can't find a date for Eng but prob around the same time!! Thank you Clive!! Merry |

Good morning Merry, could you mean Punitive damages? Ann |
|||
|
Kate | Report | 27 Jan 2006 10:42 |
It isn't alimony, because that is 'an allowance for support made by one spouse to the other pending or after their divorce or legal separation', so not paid by a third party. And the spelling is alimony, it doesn't have anything to do with the word 'money'! I guess what you are talking about must have been repealed by a divorce act, so maybe if we look through the divorce acts we might figure it out... Kate. |

Would recompense come into it anywhere Merry? |

Merry | Report | 27 Jan 2006 10:39 |
Alimony is paid by one spouse (or ex-spouse) to the other.....this payment was for the man being ''wronged'' by the co-respondent. It is something that no longer exists. If only the dead brain cell in my head would shift itself, I might find the word lying underneath.......I know I do KNOW it!!! LOL Oh no....(looks out of the window) .........men in white coats..... Aaaagggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Merry |

So did I Andrew, but that's not it either!! Palimony: Support paid by one half of an unmarried partnership after the relationship ends and Patrimony: An inheritance coming by right of birth (especially by primogeniture) do I think it begins with P???! Goodness knows! Merry |

I have the word 'palimony' stuck in my head, but perhaps that's just something American involving the rich and famous...! |
