Heather I am having the same happen to me. You contact someone or they contact you. You ask if they have the name of the father on the marriage cert to verify it is the same family for example. All I get is: Well great aunt thingy swears that his father was so and so. She must know as she remembers him. No documentary evidence. I was sent info on burials in a certain churchyard this week. All it was was a description of where the graves were in the graveyard. They had stones apparently, but no detail from the stone was given to me. Just the names, no dates, no ages at death. Sometimes I want to scream, and yes it does make you very reluctant to share info as its all take and no give. Margaret |
