Merry, I think I have seen Edwin's father as Edwin Thomas some where. As for a dowry I could not say, although all the sisters married reasonably well. Diane |

Marry. That was interesting dose that mean he had his own Printing firm. His dad was also Edwin Thomas it could have been him. Diane |

I suppose the bankruptcy order thing could be his father, but I think father was just Edwin, not Edwin Thomas. There were several other applications for receivership in the paper, going back to about 1883. (all Edwin Thomas) Nothing at all after he got married. Did Emma have a dowry???!!! LOL Merry |

First time i have sent for wills been waiting 2 weeks now how long do they take to come back. I sent for 3 in all. Diane |

The Times newspaper, June 28th 1890: The Bankruptcy Act 1883 Orders Made on Application for Discharge Willoughby, Edwin Thomas, Jamaica Road, Bermondsey and Lower Deptford Road, Rotherhithe, printer. Discharge suspended for three weeks. (not that it helps find them in 1901!! LOL) Merry |

I agree about Albert, so you wouldn't want to waste £7 on the cert. merry |

Merry Thats what i thought, about the printer. It could be that Albert is also Emmanual and the family droped the name as it is a bit of a mouthfull. Diane |

There's lots of Willoughby families around there in 1901. And thats only the ones who had their surname spelled that way. |

Diane | Report | 7 Mar 2006 10:57 |
Helen, There were a bigish Willoughby family living around that area so they could belong to any of them. Diane. |

Expect it's printer then (occ on marriage cert), as that's what it said in 1881. Merry |

I can't see Emmanuel in 1901, but there is this Albert : >>>Albert Willoughby abt 1898 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Son Bermondsey London Alfred Willoughby abt 1865 Islington Head Bermondsey London Alfred Willoughby abt 1895 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Son Bermondsey London Alice Willoughby abt 1862 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Wife Bermondsey London Alice L Willoughby abt 1889 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Daughter Bermondsey London Beatrice Willoughby abt 1891 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Daughter Bermondsey London Florence Willoughby abt 1900 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Daughter Bermondsey London Rosie Willoughby abt 1893 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Daughter Bermondsey London William Willoughby abt 1896 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Son Bermondsey London If this Albert, above, isn't Emmanuel Albert, then this Albert doesn't seem to have been registered for birth, which is why I think it's him!
