Yep I think thats a possibility and does tie up with the fact that a father is not mentioned on the marriage cert. However my dad does remember a grandfather. Just called my dad and he says so who was the old fella LOL :)

The Ego Report 5 May 2006 23:41

and in addition to that the circumstances of her marriage-its very possible she resumed her old name and might have died with the anderson name.(unless she got remarried !!)

The Ego Report 5 May 2006 23:39

mmmmm just had a thought............to locate may anderson-I am assuming that is her maiden name?...........if so and considering that her father wasnt mentioned on the marriage cert,it is possible that her mother had her registered unmarried aswell, and so in 1920 or so her birth would have anderson as mothers maiden name again.

No Pippa, the only one that had the matching surname was the one you found, but the confusing thing for me is that it has it down as May M Anderson but the marriage certificate does not mention a middle name but does for Reginald's father implying to me that if she had a middle name it would have been on the certificate. My head is starting to hurt :)

John R Procter Year of Registration: 1911 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep Mother's Maiden Name: MacFarlane District: Wandsworth County: London, Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 1189 (click to see others on page) the only other one that seems to fit.

The other birth refs that you found did they have the mother's maiden name the same as the surname as trying to match that with the lack of father on the marriage cert.

Keith

Keith Report 5 May 2006 23:16

Procter was 32 in 1943 and they apparantly seperated a few years after the children where placed in care.

Keith Report 5 May 2006 23:04

Merry you're right, my maths stink it was indeed 1920 I had to find an online age calculator to confirm it to myself. Appologies to Pippa for not taking the hint :)

Merry

Merry Report 5 May 2006 22:55

I'd order the 1920 one first, as this matches with the age at marriage! Merry

May Proctor Birth Date: 2 May 1922 Death Registration Month/Year: Jun 1995 Age at death (estimated): 73 Registration District: Rochdale Inferred County: Lancashire Register Number: C45A Entry number: 67 that took me 45 seconds.............

Keith Report 5 May 2006 22:53

My Dad is fairly certain it was May and thinks it might have been around the 5th, I'm not sure where he got his information from though ;) I guess we might just have to order both the certificates from 1922 and hope that we hit a match on the day and keep our fingers crossed that only one if them was born in May. Said it was a toughy :) There is one slim glimmer of hope. My dad remembers living in a Park avenue/Road in Carshalton around 1942 and he believes his Grandfather was living with him and his mother, so they should be on the electoral roll, we may need to organise a trip South and to the library :)

Merry

Merry Report 5 May 2006 22:49

If it's correct that she was born in May and true that she was 22 when she married at the start of 1943, surely that suggests a May 1920 dob, not 1922?? So the one Pippa found would be the most likely going on the evidence (which I realise might not be worth the certificate it's written on!) Merry

Pippa

Pippa Report 5 May 2006 22:42

Oh that can't help then. How do you know she was born in May?

Keith

Keith Report 5 May 2006 22:37

No idea where she died or when. In fact its entirely possible she's still alive.

Pippa

Pippa Report 5 May 2006 22:01

Did she die after 1984?
