Does anyone know about Outlook Express e-mail. When i get an e-mail with with a link ie like when you get a message from GR telling you you have a message, I can't open the link. This happens with all my e-mail not just GR. any messages that have a link I can't open. Anyone have any suggestions please. Betty |

1. Open Outlook Express. 2. At the top of the screen click on TOOLS. 3. From the drop down box click on OPTIONS. 4. A screen appears with labled tabs, click on the SECURITY tab. 5. Make sure the following is unchecked: - Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail. 6. Click on APPLY and OK......that should allow links in e-mails to work for you. Judy |

Betty, mine does that sometimes, its normally you need to either click on a little margin that goes across the top of the message to let you read everything OR when you click on the link look down at the bottom of the outlook express screen and you will find its sort of repeated there, click on it and the message will open up. Hope you follow that - have a go and you will see what I mean. |

Hi Heather, Sorry to be so long replying, just tried what Judy suggested but it didn't work, nothing is working!! I have check everything I can think of but not very good when it comes to computers. I don't know what's wrong with it, just started this after I ran virus programme. Betty |

You haven't got Outlook Express set to 'work offline', have you? Click on 'File' and if there is a tick next to work offline, click to untick it. Kate. |

Hi Kate, Not sure what you mean working offline, I am able to send e-mails and receive them so can't be offline. Got broadband so I cant access anything onless I am online. Betty If I am wrong can you tell me where I should go from here??? |

Fixing things is sometimes a process of elimination. Try doing the 'fix below' first.....there are a few more settings I can walk you through as well if this doesn't fix it.....it should be done regardless, so it won't be a waste of time: Fixing “Website Can’t Be Found” and other Site Error Messages More than likely you have trouble with accessing quite a few sites.....particularly getting the message 'website can't be found' among a few other error messages. Try the following and it should solve your problem. 1. Go to START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4. Change NUMBER OF DAYS TO KEEP IN HISTORY to “0” and click APPLY 5. A box appears with tabs labeled across the top. Click on ADVANCED. 6. Scroll down to the sub-heading SECURITY. 7. Make sure the following has check marks next to it: Use USE SSL 2.0, USE SSL 3.0 and USE TLS 1.0. 8. Also make sure you check off EMPTY TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE WHEN BROWSER IS CLOSED. More than likely USE TLS 1.0 is not checked of and it should be. This will give you the error messages, as well as a few others, that will prevent you from viewing web sites and the error you are getting. Make sure you empty your cookies cache as well as temporary internet files once in a while, too, as this slows down your computer and these folders tend to 'remember' the errors and may continue to bring them up until the folders are emptied. |

Following the same steps as above, on the ADVANCED tab, make sure everything under the subheading MULTIMEDIA is cheched off except: SHOW IMAGE DOWNLOAD PLACEHOLDERS.....click APPLY and OK. |
