Hi Val, the cert was the right one - birth cert for hubbys GGM - 1875 - unfortunately the mother, Jane Gordon formerly Mulholland shows up in Liverpool as born 1835 in Ireland - great. The father, Charles Gordon is also from Ireland, a joiner. Their first kiddie was born 1861 in Ireland so they must have come over to Liverpool after that - can find them on the 1871. Why the hell didnt they have to put towns on those census in Liverpool - I mean the place was over-run by the Irish you think they would have bothered to categorise it a bit. Oh BTW this is the family of the Gordon who died in the Titanic working in the engine room. |
