Pain Report 18 Aug 2006 00:48

After reading Joanies thread, I thought it might be a good idea to start a list. If anyone knows of any cemetries that can be searched on line then please add it here. I have had a look to see if one has already been started on here but I couldnt find one. That doesnt mean to say there hasnt been one already started ( im not good at finding things lol). If there has been one started on here then I apologise and could you give it a nudge so I can take a look. Jayne

Good idea, Jayne. Let's start in Australia! Perth Metropolitan Cemeteries Board covers the cemeteries in the Perth, WA area: www.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/search.php And here's one for Brisbane, QLD: www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/BCC:STANDARD::pc=PC_899 South Australia: www.saghs.org.au/graves.htm

There are quite a few burials on this site: http://www.familyhistoryonline.net It's a pay-per-view site, but searching is free, and it only costs a few pence to view the entry if you find one you want.

I already had those bookmarked :-) They're very useful in Australia, because not all States have their BMDs online.

Not strictly burials/cemeteries, but the Ryerson Index is a collection of Australian newspaper obituaries & death notices, mainly NSW but has some records from other states: www.rootsweb*com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm

Wow, Glad i am of some use with my St Helens cemetery site, this facility is on the St Helens council site..when this appears go to box in right hand corner put in berevements click then go to bottom of page it says decesed search , click on this...bit long winded on site but brill when u get there, when u have the person u want or think it is ...click on the view button and it shows u who else is in grave ( this helps to confirm ur person sometimes ) http://www(.)sthelens(.)gov(.)uk/website/environmentandhousing(.)nsf I do go to the cemetery from time to time and would be willing to take a pic or two..u need section number and grave number and names please......just check the grave is bought as if it is a public grave NO Stone......good luck Ciao Joanie

Well done Pain in the ... I did toy with the idea for another A-Z after some interest was shown in graveyard/burial websites. I know i clog the board sometimes with nudges and decided to have a rest from constructing another one for a while. Perhaps when a few additions are made it might be useful to rejig the details into an A-Z format for easier reading. Best of luck with the thread, just shout if you need help with another format in the coming months. Glen
