I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop there. I MUST do some washing up - son's home and we need clean dishes and cutlery tomorrow! There are also some serious tidying tasks to be dealt with (tomorrow, I think!) - other son plans to bring significant other on next visit and house is seriously embarrassing. good hunting! Presumably the first children were from the first marriage. Or... Either there are some coincidences, or Eliza appears to have been bigamous (except, I suppose that should be something like biandryous). I think you'll have to get a bit more census checking here. Eliza isn't that unusual a name. Maybe we're mixing up different people. Christine |

There is this odd pair of records on IGI: Marriage: 10 OCT 1844 Great Kyre, Worcester Marriage: 18 OCT 1844 Great Kyre EDWARD BOWKETT Spouse: ELIZA BOUGH batch M041231 I don't know why this should apparently be a twice-married couple. When this happened in my husband's tree, the first marriage was by licence and the second by banns - so we imagine there was a problem with the first ceremony - possibly with the licence. In this case it's too close for banns to intervene, so ??? Christine |

Found these too But Patricia - you'd have much more fun on the IGI (http://www.familysearch.org) doing this for yourself! I used the Hugh Wallis pages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle to be able to search for a surname in a restricted area - a particular parish... I did find these: Batch Number: C098671 Saint Marys, Handsworth, Stafford parents Stephen TURNER & Eliza Christening: 27 NOV 1853 ROBERT TURNER Christening: 06 JUL 1856 EMMA TURNER Christening: 17 JUL 1859 ELIZABETH TURNER Christine |

IGI.... M010724 STEPHEN TURNER Spouse: ELIZA BOWCOTT Marriage: 21 OCT 1850 Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwick A possible??? You may be able to get a photocopy of the Parish Register page - usually cheaper, but certainly better (it's the primary source for anything else). Otherwise: Name: Stephen Turner Year of Registration: 1850 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Birmingham (1837-1924) County: Warwickshire Volume: 16 Page: 525 Eliza Bowcott Christine |
