I had the embarrasing problem the other day when I asked a question and someone gave me some info. then someone else who had also been looking came back and they started an arguement on my post. I thanked them both a quickly deleted it. Linda P.S I always say thankyou. |

Hi Everyone, When I was a newbie I asked more than one question at once and ended up very confused, now I know better and stick to one query at a time, then I can properly see the answers and say thank you. I also learned how much fun it is to discover things for myself, so that now I rarely have to ask for much help. Some of the people who helped me out at first are still offering, and I'd like them to know that most of us owe our fabulous hobby to them sharing their abilities with us and inspiring us to get in there and discover history. Please don't give up offering to help, if that's what you love doing, the minority fall by the wayside in due course. Have a Lovely Evening, Hz |

I think it is a case of some people just making a mistake other's are just rude, and think it is ok to ask for help then 'forget' to look back and thank people after they have spent time and in some cases money to do it. Marion |

One problem we Aussies have is that we will post a thread in our daytime, but that thread will be completely 'swamped' when all you Poms get on here each night, and is sometimes difficult for us to find the next day, (especially if you cant remember the name of the thread!). |

Michael It' s the likes of Maureen that has gone to a lot of work to help..then it get's ignored, not just a case of hours, they never go back. Some people are spending money as well as time to help. Marion |

Unfortunately got another problem thread. I and another member posted info and asked questions but no response after 10 days. I realise that you can not 'force' a member to respond but without feedback how can they expect to be helped further with their query. Yes I appreciate there are reasons why people do not go back to the threads and yes I have sent a pm to some of them. Will be adding another name to my list of people to avoid. Maureen |

I'm afraid I go too far the other way! I say thank you on the thread and also post a separate 'thank you' just in case the first one is missed! Jean |

I agree with what you are all saying, have been helping a few people over the last few days and can be a bit annoying when you go to a lot of trouble to help. I help because I love researching and helping others. Even more because there are so many people on here that have help me over the last 3 years or so and to help someone else is giving back what others have done for me. Nicola |

Hi I'm a bit of a newbie but I do always try to thank or respond on my threads BUT it is very hard to find your threads, especially if you can't get on the site for a couple of days. I've tried reading only my threads but when I do that it shows the thread but with only my own posts visible! Does this happen to everyone? I use quite a few forums and message boards on other sites and this is a very difficult message board to navigate, surely it could be made more user friendly? It sounds like it would save everyone quite a lot of time and aggravation. Just a friendly suggestion :) |

Susanna Click on 'Your threads only' That takes you to a list of all the threads you have added to. Open the one you want to look at and then click on 'All replies'.You will then see the whole thread, not just your own input. Yes, yes, I know, it is completely daft, but it is just one of the endearing little quirks of this site! OC |

Susanna, when you go to your threads, click on the thread to read, then click on 'All replies' at the top. This will show all replies to the thread, not just yours. |

Thanks OC that's good to know! I think some of the quirks on this site are quite counter-productive by the sound of the complaints on this thread, this is a list of the things I think it would be useful to see adapted into this board (in case anyone who is reading can do anything about it): View your own threads without hiding others posts on that thread An asterix on all new and unread threads A skip to the end button (so you don't have to trawl through all the pages you've already read) 'Sticky' posts, threads that contain important info remain at the top A better guide as to what each board should be used for (or have this included in the 'sticky' posts) Hope this is useful, I'm just trying to give positive critisism! Should I maybe send this to someone in customer service or something? |

I do not want to start a debate on whether threads should be deleted or not as enough has been said on this subject before BUT even when you think your thread has been finished and you have acknowledged the help given please remember to still check as members logging into the site later in the day can and quite often do add extra information on the thread. This additional information might just be the answer you are looking for. Maureen |
