I cannot find any record of birth for the above - he is NOT the Thomas Henry Reeves born 1892 Hastings, mmn Moore. His parents were William Reeves and Sophia, nee Saxby. |

In 1901, the boy would have been no older than 9 years, so not possible for him to be serving anywhere |

Within Thomas' service record there is also another Hastings address listed for William |

Erika, thank you, yes I have all that information and I agree that it is difficult to see how he fitted in with Mabel as 1st January 1892. There are letters within the family from Henry sent to his "dear sister", but I'm not sure which sister that refers to. I have tried to find him in the 1901 with grandparents, etc., but no trace. He signed up in February 1911, aged 18 years 7 months. The Thomas born 1982 mmn Moore was registered as Thomas Henry, and I believe he married in 1923 in Hastings. |

You may have to accept that he was simply NOT the child of William and Sophie(a). |

I know, but it's driving me crazy - William listed as father, and him writing to one of William's daughters as Dear sister. |

William could have been his father, but who his mother was may remain unknown. |

|

So he could have been recorded under his mother's name, and later accepted into the Reeves family. |

Thanks Jinks, I have tried all these searches to no avail. I even tried both of the former surnames of William's second wife, Hannah. |

He wasn’t accepted into the family if census records are accurate. He was elsewhere. |

Perhaps he got to know the family after Sophia died…………. |

That's a good point Erika - Sophia died in 1910 Thomas Reeves first appears in the 1911. |
