There seems to be some skullduggery regarding Doris.
On the 1939 register Arthur H.F Hinsley is living with his parents and listed as single. In December 1939 he married Doris Petts but you will see that she is listed on the 1939 register as living with her parents and says her name is Hewitt. Parents listed as Cetes but think that should be Petts but she didn’t marry Norman until 1944. Was the marriage bigamous?
After she married Arthur he went off to Canada. I don’t know when but took a new wife with him called Alice who he married in 1945 so it must have been 1945 or after. They returned in 1954. Surely they didn’t both divorce because it was a sin in those days. Arthur and Alice seem to have ended up in Wolverhampton. Maybe Alice came from there. There is a mention of Bangor, Northern Ireland so did they flee there to get out of the way.
Such a can of worms. Hope you can follow my ramblings.

No, her name is NOT Hewitt in 1939

Her name in 1939 is PETTS - as I said, I’ve advised FMP that corrections need to be made.

The other names on the transcriptions are her two married names

If you read all the info I posted, you will find things much easier to understand

Divorce wasn’t a sin except to Roman Catholics - as it still is, as far as I know.

I’m sorry that I misunderstood your message. I thought the corrections were for the names of Cetts.

The corrections certainly were for CETTS, which was a mistranscription of PETTS!!…..and the woman’s other surnames were clearly shown, even if one of them was also mistranscribed
