Hi,
I hope someone can help me find more information on Eliza Holmes born C 1858 Ashby de la Zouch area?
She married Thomas Turton and died in 1921, buried at Linton church, Derbyshire.
I would like to find out where she was born and who her family was…
Any information would be very greatly received!

If she knew her father, he will be named on her marriage cert

What research have you done so far yourself?
Have you searched freebmd to find whether her birth was even registered?

Marriage OND 1881 Burton on Trent district…..

1891 census says birth was in Weston, Derbyshire

Look for her in the 1881 census…..free on familysearch website

1861 possible entry with father John, mother Mary, and a few siblings

2-3 possible births on freebmd. Shardlow is the relevant registration district

Look at the GRO site - FREE - for MMN - then cross-refer with possible marriages.

BUT………marriage cert needed for confirmation of father’s name. OR check births of siblings for verification of MMN

According to the free website www.freebmd.org.uk there is an Eliza Jane Holmes registered in the Ashby de la Zouch district in the 3rd quarter of 1858. The certificate can also purchased from the GRO.

Edit: there seems to be more than one Eliza Holmes. On the assumption that you have worked back to that marriage then you need the certificate as suggested by Erika to confirm her fathers name and occupation.

This family is correct as Beatrice Turton was my Great Grandmother.
