I wonder if anyone can help me track down my great grandfather. Robert James Puttee, I know he was born in 1876, in Peckham and the last document that I have of him on is my grandfather, Robert Cecil Puttee's birth certificate, in 1901, after that I can find no trace of him. The family story, was that he left my grandmother and his two sons and emigrated to America, but I can find nothing to substantiate that. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be lovely. Thanks. |

A Public Family Tree states that Robert died in 1908, without any proof ....... seemingly based on the year of Amy's marriage. |

I couldn't find a death in 1908, at least not in England and Wales, but nor have I been able to find his name on an outbound passenger list from the UK or on the Ellis Island site. |

Thank you everyone for your efforts. The address on my grandfather's birth certificate is interesting, they were living in a public house, The Blue Ball, Asheridge, Charteridge, which is quite rural and my great grandfather's occupation was commercial clerk. I have often wondered what they were doing living there, and why was my great grandmother living with her father in law on the 1901 census? I guess I will never know. Wish I could go back in time ?? |
