Can anybody help with the above.
He is in the 1871/1881 census and has a wife Mary Jane who was born in Eythorne, Kent. I can find no marriage record or her surname.
Initially I thought it might be Tyas but a marriage record for 1864 shows Thomas Fishers' father as Richard but the above's father was William who married Ann Garlinge and this Mary Jane Tyas was born in Hythe, Kent. (1861 census).
Any ideas.

Am I looking at the right 1871 census where the oldest child is 15? Surely that would mean a marriage around 1855?

Ah, yes, I see the OP says Thomas's father married Ann Garlinge - so presumably he was Ann's son.

Did you notice that Thomas's marriage in 1851 was to Mary Ann Hogben, and also listed with the alternative of Mary Jane Hogben ?

So it seems he only had the one wife, sometimes known as Mary Ann and sometimes as Mary Jane.

She's Mary Jane in 1861 (surname Garlinge), and in 1871 and 1881 (surname Fisher) - all posted above.
