Basic question - what proof is there that the 1933 marriage is that of the son of Alfred and Catherine?

ArgyllGran Report 8 Dec 2018 10:49

The niece does have the Pearce/Todd children on her tree - not by name, as they're "private".
However, she does name the daughter's deceased son, and therefore one can find his parents' marriage - and his mother is the Pearce/Todd daughter.

She wouldn't have got that from an Ancestry suggestion, so I assume the 1933 marriage is correct - but she's picked up on the wrong Elizabeth Todd, if Elizabeth Todd/Pearce/Arnold is the correct one.

To add proof to that -

the Elizabeth Helen Todd whom she says was married to Charles, was still single in 1939:

Where does the Ancestry tree owner get the 'info'? Most of it is unfounded

The birth for Cumming/Pearce is simply 'Andrew'. The tree owner has added a second forename.......................

He is supposed to have married in 1988 in Ely - no record that I can find to back up that entry

This is the alleged death of Maureen's son - from the Ancestry tree

His birth date is on the tree - and it ISN'T 14th JUNE!!

Name Mr Andrew Philip Cummings
Gender Male
Age45
Birth Date14 Jun 1963
Death Date29 Mar 2008
Last Residence Woodbridge, Suffolk, England
Postal Code District Ip13

Probable birth for the above
Births Jun 1963 (>99%)
CUMMINGS ANDREW P SNELL HAMMERSMITH 5C 1276

And the marriage - which has been latched onto by the niece..................

Cummings Andrew P — — 1988 England & Wales Marriages 1837-2005 Ely, Cambridgeshire, England

Maureen's son is probably alive and kicking!

There is an ER entry for Maureen living in Colchester

If Bob returns, I hope he will digest all the factual info, backed up by records, and disregard all the false 'info' from the niece.

I still think someone needs to get the 1933 marriage cert to prove whether it's the right Charles H Pearce. Nothing I've seen so far provides what I would consider 'proof'. Not even what the 'H' represents.

Hi all. I haven't been ignoring you, I have been away for the weekend. Leave things with me for a while, I think you may be right in assuming that my 2nd cousin has fallen in to the trap of copying from other trees. I will contact her in the week and see what she says, and perhaps do some more research myself.
