The short cert. I have has a sentence in the middle which says the information is taken from the register of births, Vol ..., entry no ... by me, registrar for Coventry.

Maddie, what is the difference between a short birth cert. and a registration of birth document? I've never heard of the latter.

a registration of birth document i believe you paid pennies for and was given to you when you recoded the birth. I have my father's for 1921 but it is filed away.

I have just looked at my father's and it is headed certificate of Registry of Birth, so I guess it's not a short birth Cert. after all. However, I know my father used it as a Birth Certificate all his life and that is what it was called.

Hi All,

Just got the birth certificate. Vivian`s mother was Annie Mary Edwards, born 27th February 1916, registered 3rd April 1916 and shows her as deceased, which according to Vivian she died within a month of his birth from peritonitis.

Now according to BMD Evan Jones who we know was Vivian`s father married a Annie Mary Edwards in the first quarter of 1915, in the district of Pontypridd.

at least we got the right marriage of evan to annie and the correct birth :-)

Looks like it, thanks for all your input.
The lady I am doing this for cant believe just how many of you out there messaged back with information.
She was pulling her hair out and it showed when I looked at her family tree on Ancestry and it showed 31 children to one set of parents, and they were duplicated several times as were the children.

Hopefully we`ve got her put back on the right track.
