I am having great difficulty in tracing the ancestry of the following family. Joseph Kleiglass 1896-1987 born probably in Warsaw, Poland married to Caroline Price 1905-1997. Caoline was born in Edinburgh but I can find no record of her birth. The family moved to Glasgow where I have records of them having two sons Maurice Ralph Kleinglass and Jacob Kleinglass known as Jackie. I am unable to access the 1911 Scottish census for further info alyhough I am a full member of Ancestry. The family are Jewish and at some time after Jacob's birth dropped the Glass and became just Klein. Can anyone help please? Many thanks!

I feel sure these apply to the family and am wondering if I have assumed the European spelling of Maurice instead of Morris. Thanks so much. I do know there are family links with both Poland and Russia so this must be them. Thanks so much as it's a start.

Can anyone throw any light on information about Caroline Price. I do know she was born in Edinburgh in 1905 but cannot find a record of her birth or marriage to Maurice Kleinglass. Maurice married Elizabeth Cunningham and they had 3 children Aaron, Paul and Marrian Klein. If I could find some info about Caroline I feel I might be able to move forward. Does anyone have access to Jewish records please?

I think you need Scotland's People, which is a pay per view site.

Scottish bmds are not anywhere else.

I understand that you can do a free search on SP, which might show you that ecords are there, but you then have to buy credits to look at the record.

They married in Blythswood 1926- you can get the details on Scotland's People.

A German Jew named Benjamin Rosenheim was charged, at the instance of the Inspector of Cleansing for the city, with having laid down a quantity of ashes in Salisbury Street yesterday morning. The prisoner protested that he was only looking among the ashes for a diamond which he said he had lost. Bailie Howden, however, found the charge proven and the diamond hunter was fined 1s.

Sorry folks, had to leave the site last night and was astounded when I have just come on to see what all you wonderful people have managed to find out for me. I didn't expect to get such a vast amount of information and I am so grateful to all of you for taking the time to do that research. Many thanks to everyone who contributed..

First a big thanks to those who answered above. Your help has enabled me to add over a hundred people to the tree all on the Caroline Price side. Unfortunately I have been less successful on the Joseph Kleinglass side 1896-1987. I have found who I think to be his parents but with no dates or any other information. This is just from other trees. I have tried Polish and Russian jewish genealogy sites but with no success. Can I call upon you for help again please. The names I have are Jacob/Jack Kleinglass and Betty Markovitch/Mackovitch. Many thanks.

There's a passenger list of a Caroline Klienglass 44 and I presume son of 10 Jacob going to Melbourne. The address they have come from is 29, Beaufort Ave, Glasgow.
Caroline's occupation is down as Co. Director.

Thanks both. The Jacob Kleinglass you refer to Mel is the great grandson of the one I am looking for, Caroline is not alive but Jacob is. However it was not him my posts were about so am not seeking info about him on here. The Jacob I am looking for and his wife would probably have been born in the 1870's. Thanks for both your help.
