I then looked at the 1861 census{knowing George died at 1856 } for his widow she marr in 1859 to willam bagshaw so nothing for george
just went on a website Deceasd online nunhead cemetery burials but not found
never mind I will carry on searching

I’ve been looking through the images from the PR in case his name was mistranscribed, but nothing even remotely similar. Its worth mentioning that the parish records of St John the Baptist in Erith were badly damaged in a fire in the 1870’s. Apparently they were stored in an out-building while work was being carried out on the church. The vicar of the time tried to recreate the records from the burnt fragments but probably concentrated on marriages and baptisms than burials.

The image certainly looks to show his age as 39.

Does the DC give his residence at the time of his death? Have you found him on the 1851 or his widow on 1861? Is it possible that he might have been taken to a cemetery closer to where his parents or family lived?

Kent police, as such, was formed in 1857, so too early for George’s records to have been kept with them. Ideally, you should contact the Kent Police Museum, but their website says that they are currently without an Archivist.

Kirby he was a police sergeant with police commendations
he died 26 January 1856 aged just 35 years Bexley new town kent
I had no luck finding him on ancestry but ive prob done it wrong
any info on him appreciated

OH is an accepted abbreviation for Other Half - husband/wife/partner (of either/same gender) ;-)
Although we are quite happy to dig out public records relating to other people, we are mindful that it can also happen to us. Consequently when we post on the boards, we try to disguise certain identifying details.

You could do the same for London, and perhaps filter with Birth, Marriage & Death, including Parish. You may find orginal images of baptisms, marriages and early burials. Ditto for Cornwall & Devon although the coverage is not so good.

As you build your tree, Ancestry automatically sorts through its data base and suggest records which may be appropriate. These are indicated by 'quivering leaves'. Some are way off beam! Beware of Ancestral Tree hints - some are absoute rubbish. One person comes up with an idea, and other people copy without thought. Although those results are shown in grey-scale, by clicking on the Ancestors name you can get to the profile page. Always look to see what records they have attached to make your own descision. If there are no records attached, it frequently means the tree owner no longer subscribes. For that reason as much as any, try to save images to your own computer.

yes its terrible what happened to Thomas and albert yes they did things differently
back in those days
my grandparents lost 2 children very young ages Thomas 6 yrs old and albert just ovr 2yrs of age and in a short space of time

Strangely, I had memories of walking to the corner shop on Brook Street which was next door/close to OH's grandparents. Looking on the map, it seems I was mistaken. It was a loooong time ago!

Sad about little Thomas' death. Now-a-days we say to 'starve' someone with a norovirus or try to give them replacement drinks. I suppose, back in the day, ideas were different

his brother Thomas {you found his burial for me} ive got his death cert got it in front of me now cause of death acute cholera gastro enteritis vomiting and diarahee poor lad was only 6 years old he and albert is one of my mums brothers

I did wonder about Spanish Flu, but its unlikely he'd be sent to Guys for that!

A large number of OH's family were born & lived around Erith/N.H/Belvedere etc. His father was born at 212 Brook Street, although they later moved to 174 (unless the numbering changed)
His mother's side can be found in the area from the early 1800's!

ive been on free bmd for Albert Edward Russell found his birth Dartford 1917{Dartford reg dist for Erith }but can only find that and no death for Dartford kent
just one for southwark London
his parents had all their children in Erith kent
I then went onto family search again the only death was in southwark
can you or any other kind person look on ancestry for alberts death he was buried

The majority of cremation or burial records in the last, say, 40 years are held by the respective councils who will charge to search for them. Obviously there are some exceptions.
Parish records for baptisms and marriages tend to have a closure such as 100 or 50 years – it does depend on the local policy. You may find that they haven’t been deposited with the county archives, or if they have, they aren’t on line.

Off hand, do you know if any of the 'lost' people had children? If you aren't in contact with them, we may be able to find addresses. You could then write.
Are they listed on anyone else's trees on this site? If so, the tree owners may have additional information.
No one person is expert at finding all records. What one person can't find, another might. To a certain extent it's the way people 'think' and can manipulate search engines. Before last night I wasn't aware there was a database for Wandsworth burials. You can learn something every day.

Not really as Lily died in Gravesend in 1966 but was living in Chislehurst at the time
