If you purchase the possible death cert/s for Violet then the informant might be a relative eg if the death is the 1940 one then possible Henry was the informant?

David

David Report 9 Sep 2015 13:09

how will I get to know from death certificate if its her or not ? :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Sep 2015 12:40

Buy the 1940 DC. At least you'll know one way of the other.

Are you getting confused because the reg is under Fairhurst? That's because she'd be known by her husbands surname.

David Report 9 Sep 2015 12:23

what throws me is she had a baby ive found out in 1938 born at home at 9 am in rossington Doncaster and it was a boy called Ronald my mothers brother .so if they separated and she got re married etc and then died in Pontefract.in 1940 the march of that year my god I have a headache :-D

It is known for death regs to get lost between the local reg and the GRO. You may have to purchase the certs to either confirm or rule out. Donaster Reg office may undertake a search for you, but their main job is registering current B,M&D. You could enquire
a) If they will
b) How much they'd charge.

The gro ref for the Wigan entry found by Rose

Name: Violet Fairhurst
Birth Date: Sep 1906
Date of Registration: Mar 1980
Age at Death: 73
Registration district: West Lancashire
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 40
Page: 2585

We are assuming that Violet and Henry lived as man and wife until one of them died. If they seperated, then we need to look for a death for Violet under a different surname. That could be either assumed if she co-habited with another person, or that of a second husband's surname.

Don't completely rule out deaths reg 'out of area'. She may have been visiting relatives, or in a hospital there. Also, many people were evacuated in WW2.

Rambling Report 9 Sep 2015 11:11

Just in case the age is out at death, though it doesn't look likely as there were living children at the time, there is this one from the site already mentioned

name Age Place of Death Date Year Notes Grave Cremation Religion
Fairhurst
Fairhurst Violet 73 yrs RUFFORD Hospital Jan. 1980 [ 36, Brown Court, Wigan ] R 812

thanks for that Rose

David asks Report 9 Sep 2015 10:12

im wanting to know where Violet gee is buried cannot find any information on this ? I should say where violet fairhurst is buried

If you think the death reg posted on both threads is correct, you need to purchase her death certificate at a cost of £9.25
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

the cert will confirm if she is the wife/widow of Henryand will give probably give her 'usual' address. You will then need to work out which council holds the cemetery records in that area, and ask for a search of the Register. Many councils will charge. You may be lucky and find transcribed records on line for the individual cemeteries.

Just for ref helpers, this query re Violet is also on FA,

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1354827

where Dea has posted the same death as DET. and that's the best match i can find also.

?????

March 1940
Fairhurst Violet 40 Pontefract 9c 389

Do you know where your grandfather died? That may give a clue if he stayed in the same area.
Places covered by the Pontefract reg district can be found here

Ask if your cousin still has his mother's address book - that may help track down her siblings.

PMing an address for Ronald in the same town, taken from 2002-2007 ER. The property doesn't seem to have been sold - if they haven't moved, they might have opted out of the commercial ER

EDIT....EDIT...SCRUB THAT

They probably married in 1946 so couldn't possibly be your Uncle and his wife

David, if you have any extra snippets of information, please add to the thread. Be advised that you have to be careful about privacy as anything posted will be picked up on an internet search

Not very comfortable putting names on an open board, but here goes.

Arthur birth reg 1925, Wigan
Leonard birth reg 1928 Nantwich
Reginald birth reg 1929 Wigan
Mildred A birth reg Doncaster (you know about her. Are you in contact?)
Twins James and Ronald birth reg 1938 Doncaster.

Unfortunately, apart from Mildred, none of them have middle names. It might be worth looking in the Doncaster area if that is were your grandparents settled.

If you don’t have access to the ER on genes, a free site is http://www.searchelectoralroll.co.uk/Electoral_Roll_Search.asp

‘A’ Reginald Fairhurst is listed at a Doncaster address until 2005, then there is an entry on the Probate Calendar for

Surname Fairhurst
First name Reginald
Date of probate 8 Jul 2005
Probate number 1877732
Date of death 16 May 2005
Document type Grant and Will
Registry Leeds

It may be totally irrelevant

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills is a good site to search for deaths after 2006, but only if their estate went to probate.
