It sometimes comes up in an internet result, but its not on a tagged list.
You asked about Hull History Centre a while ago - any comments on the responses? http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1352392
Any particular reason why you are asking for opinions?

I have replied on your earlier thread ................
-------
errrrrrrrrrrrr ...........
you asked these questions on both FTF and Rootschat, and finally admitted after much questioning that your "company" has asked you to do a survey to find out about the feasibility of starting a genealogy company
You received many replies on those other sites, and I think were told that they would have to find a niche that would be profitable for them
----------
I presume that this is why you are now asking about Genuki
Is your company thinking of taking over Genuki?
It after all relies on VOLUNTEERS, according to their web page .............
"GENUKI provides a virtual reference library of genealogical information of particular relevance to the UK and Ireland. It is a non-commercial service, maintained by a charitable trust and a group of volunteers.
All material on this site is © GENUKI and individual contributors. For permission to re-use material please contact the GENUKI trustees."

I don't actually think using a company's resources - this website - to do research for the purpose of starting a competing business is quite, you know, kosher, Candis.
In fact, you might find the company whose website you are using would take quite a dim view of it. Although I'm thinking it doesn't have much to worry about.

Genealogy Sites versus Archives
I am interested to know what peoples thoughts and opinions are on the below.
What do sites like this and Ancestry, FMP etc. versus Hull History Centre online and others have in common?
What are there differences?
What are there shortcomings?
What can't they find out that you would like to?
What are there shortcomings of Parish Records?
How could such issues be resolved?
What is your need in using such a site or archive?
Many thanks
RS
and later replies ............
I have been asked by work to do a survey, and evaluate the outcomings of the things that have been asked.
Trying to write a detailed account of the differences between the on-line genealogy and the traditional way for a work survery. I have been asked to get feedback and thoughts on what I posted earlier
The company is looking at venturing into genealogy. I was asked to ask on various genealogy forums what the opinions, thoughts and feelings of the public ie you on the questions that have been asked hence the reason it is posted on other forums to do with genealogy. Hull History Centre was the only one mentioned as a colleague has some experience of using this.

I am asking for the reason I am trying to do an assignment. I am a distance learner with Aber University.
I do not know who Divergent or Ribbonscream are so was not aware that something had been posted similar to this elsewhere.

then what about the initials you used at the end of your OP on the other thread, RS ................ identical to the "signature" used by Ribbonscream,
and the fact that same OP asked the very same identical questions to the ones asked by Ribbonscream aka Divergent on two other forums?
Ribbonscream and Divergent are the same person, and eventually admitted under both names that he had been asked by his work to find out feelings re all the different genealogy sites, both world-wide and local with the aim of developing their own.

I do note that you have now edited the OP on your other thread in order to remove the initials RS .......... however, several other people had already seen and noted the presence of them.
others might like to compare that OP with the one from FTF by Ribbonstream and the one from Rootschat by Divergent

I think they are identical!
The thing is ................ we don't mind helping people trying to collect information to help with academic projects, but it is a very different matter when someone is collecting information with an intent to make financial benefit out of it!

Hi
No they are not identical I am a female who works for an educational company. my only interest in genealogy is as a hobby.
I am not bothered if people comment or do not comment it is entirely up to them. As I have never used Genuki and it was suggested by an older relative.
I thought I would just ask what people thought of it to get an idea. I have had a look through it. Yes I think it could be a useful site for my assignment that I am doing.

All very odd.
What is so special about the Hull archives?
Here is another site (wdytya- forum) with a question from Ribbonstream - similar to Sylvia's posting of 15 June 06.30.
Comments on that one are interesting - worth reading.
Edit. I seem to have forgotten to add the link: http://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/forum/topic11959.html

I use Genuki a lot, mostly via freeBMD, for information about parishes and registration districts, for which it is excellent.

what is your connection with Divergent who asked questions on here on June 2 and with Ribbonscream who asked the same question on FTF on June 3 ......... you asked the same question as Divergent and Ribbonscream on GR on June 2
Not the same person at all. Candidiasia has a proven track record of proper family research on this forum, and was very upfront about the reason for her question.
Mike
As I stated I work full time and am a distance learner. my only interest with genealogy is as a hobby. i have been doing family tree research for the last 5 years.

I didn't actually state that you asked about Hull in Your OP.
Maybe you should read all the posts on this thread - I have!
And who is Mike? Where has his quote come from? Edit: I've just found the Mike quote on rootschat. Maybe you should have told us that when you cut and pasted in Genes!

Candidiasia has indeed been a long time member of GR and of Rootschat.
BUT I still think my question is relevant.
Why is the OP on her thread of June 2 2015 IDENTICAL to postings made by Ribbonstream and Divergent on FTF, Rootschat, and WDYTYA Forum
and I do mean identical .......... down to the same mis-spellings.
Ribbonstream and Divergent have turned out to be the same person, signing their posts with RS ............... and Candidiasia's OP on that other thread was initially signed with RS until the post was edited some time between 3:55 am and 6:30 am this morning (June 14)
Does this mean that the R and D are also doing the same distance learning course as Candidiasia's, and they were given the same list of questions to be asked?
Possible
I am also very curious about the answer to the question he gave
But then why did he admit on all 3 of those other sites AFTER being told that there was a difference between asking "us" for help for an academic project and for paid work ............

Once again I sate I am a female and work for an educational establishment and my degree is a distance learner.
I do not know who divergent or ribbonscream are as a distance learner I do not have that much contact with anyone else doing the course. Nor am I aware that people would chose the same similar thing to do for an assignment.
My interest in genealogy is as a hobby and I have been doing my family tree since I lost my Dad in 2005.

so we leave it as an unanswered question as to how there are 4 posts on 4 different sites under 3 different names all asking the absolutely identical questions, with the same identical mistakes.
May I ask ........... how did you come up with the list of questions you asked in the June 2nd posting?
