Thanks Sylvia I'd never considered that Scotland's BMD was separate from England and Wales This will certainly give me a new avenue to look at. I did all the passenger list available newspapers etc. One of my great successes was finding my G.G.Father's marriage in Quebec city to Margaret Mullins in1863 they are buried "unfortunately" separately in England and not very old 34 and 37

Tony
you have to look on Scotland's People ......... which is a pay per view site. I think you can search for free, and see if anything turns up, but then you have to buy credits to actually see what the records say

Hi Shirley Just a quick update Arthur and Cecil were Arthur Snr sons they joined the army together and served in Palestine before the ww2. to my knowledge their father never re-married in fact there appears to be no information on him after his divorce, the last mention of him 15th June 1936 were he was paid 175 pounds court costs a princely some in those days. On and Off I've been looking for quite some time he could be still alive he'd be 133 this year or granny could of bumped him of and buried him in the cellar. the mind could run wild with imagination Tony 11:00 am

Hi Sylvia I check both suggested sites Scotland and Ireland and no luck so far, I corresponded with Ancestry some time back and no one could come up with a date however for most it was a distant relative. My parents and anyone who might have known him have passed on. although quite young I don't ever recall him being mentioned in family conversation, possibly the divorce not a common occurrence back in those days, he was never to be mentioned in the family again Who Knows Tony

If he received costs, he must have been the 'innocent party' in the divorce

Have you followed-through on his siblings?
Might any of their descendants have knowledge of him?

There doesn't have to be a death cert. as I have found to my cost!
I know when and where my great grandfather died ( 1895 ) but have tried everything to find it incl. wider searches of name, place and date at GRO, and in the local Register Office. I have also the details of all the local church registers where the only gap is the registers for a period of a few years just when he died! The births of his twins born several months after his death are also not to be found.
I booked a slot with an expert at last years WDYTYA show, who eventually said that it seemed that for whatever reason those church registers were never passed on and recorded centrally. So no death cert!

Hi Sue Interesting information I will have to do some study to see if the same church rules applied in 1936 onwards I don't think he was a religious man I've also employed a researcher fortunately I did get a result in this instant and might go down this track again I'm looking into the electoral rolls to help in a location as to where he was after 1936 and then do a cemetery search for that area, I've located several relatives this way some shire councils are extremely helpful.
