Thank you so much for all this info. I'll now have to get it organized and verified. I think I have tons to learn on how to use these websites. I really appreciate everyone's efforts.

As John Toomey senior was alive in 1867, aged 36 (per the workhouse record posted by Gritty at the bottom of page 1), and Eliza is a widow in 1871, I wonder if this could be his death??
Deaths Jun 1868 (>99%) TOOMEY John 36 Marylebone 1a 335

This is very sad. I wonder why. I'm guessing that since they had both parents, it was because they were too poor to keep the kids.

A tree on ancestry (millicent1106 ) has photos of Amelia Toomey. She only has John listed as a sibling- but it is the same family.
It's so sad- the Toomey children spent a lot of time in the workhouse this is George and his siblings in 1866:

There is a family rumour that George and his brother Jack were Toomy's at one time. The brother apparently was a "deserter of women" and George was supposed to have opted out of the Irish army, changed his name and came to England. But since I was told that both the boys had a surname of Hall, my thinking is that perhaps it was their father that changed his name and came from Ireland. Jack apparently had 2 children but I have not done anything on him yet at all. I suppose that should be my next step as it may give me more info on George.
Thanks again for your help.
