What was Marie and Gwyneth's mother's maiden name?

There's another "sister" that I can't find any record of. Marie Griffiths. Year of birth should be around 1912. I can't find any record of her.

Our Griffiths families are not connected are they??? Lol!!

My mother's and father's families are from that part of the world. If you contact Pontypridd library there is a gentleman there called Hywel who will do all he can to answer queries by email. He may have information on the building at the time you are looking for. They have a very good research department and, if he can't answer immediately, he will get back to you later. I've had a great deal of help from Hywel with my Griffiths family.

If you buy the "sister"'s birth cert, it will tell you the mother's first name.

So my main aim is see if the person my dad was brought up thinking is his auntie is actually his Auntie as he always felt there was something not quite right. My Nan Gwyneth Griffiths was born about 1909 and according to the 1911 cenus lived in Hillside Terrace. The "sister" in question was born in 1933. From information on here I can see her surname was Griffiths but mothers maiden name was also Griffiths. My Nan married my grandad Godfrey James in 1935 where at the time she was living in Carmel House and had no occupation. My Grandad at the time was living in Bailey Street, Wattstown .

I've just looked at the marriage certificate again and they were married at the Parish Church but interestingly they were married by Thomas Williams Vicar.

In 1901, the census records go to 10 Chapel Street, and then jump to Upper Bailey Street, which joins on to the end of Chapel Street.
No mention of Twynglynen, nor of Carmel House.

But as the Chapel wasn't built until after 1901, I guess neither of the houses were there, either.

Interestingly, although not relevant to this thread, Margaret Williams, in 1901, was living with husband and family at Chapel House, Aberchellau Road. That was next door to Wattstown Hotel. The Calfaria Welsh Baptist Chapel was there, just along from the hotel, and is now converted to a block of flats called Calfaria Chapel House. (Per a Google search).
Although no occupation is given for her in 1901, perhaps she was a caretaker there, too.

And then moved to a nice new house on Chapel Street before 1911!

The 1911 posted by Maureen for Margaret Williams says that Margaret was a caretaker at a chapel.

Probably Carmel Chapel , which was only a couple of doors away from Carmel House:

Maybe Carmel House was owned by the chapel, as Margaret was the chapel caretaker - so maybe an occasional unmarried mother was taken in there, as already suggested.

Ancestry's sequence of census images goes along Chapel Street (aka Terrace per Google) as far as No. 10.
No 10 is next door to the chapel, per Google Streetview.

There's no record for the chapel, of course, as nobody lived there.

Then there's Twynglynen (?) Cottage (8 rooms). This is the house on the other side of the chapel. By zooming in, on Streetview, one can just make out the name on the glass panel above the front door.
In 1911, the occupation of Mary Parry, who lived there, is "Home Manageress" - wonder if this is relevant??

The next census image is for Carmel House, which would have been beyond Twynglynen Cottage, where nowadays there's a grassy bank with a modern house just visible at the top of it, before you come to the modern Wattstown Social Club.

Carmel House must have been the last house on Chapel Street/Terrace in 1911, as the next census image is for Glenside (10 rooms), which, according to Google streetview, is up on Hillside Terrace.
After that the sequence of images moves on to Victoria Street (or Terrace, per Google), round the corner from Glenside.

This Carmel House as stated on my Nan's marriage certificate confuses me as her family address in the 1911 cenus was still her family address into the 1960s!! As for my Grandad it was never his address! I suppose she could have worked there. I am looking forward to the birth certificate of my dad's Auntie arriving as I hope that will have some answers! On here though I can clearly see that her surname is the same as mothers maiden name.

It looks to me as though it was just a regular cottage-maybe somewhere between Victoria Street and Chapel Street (just going by neighbour's addresses.). Naturally I can't find it in 1901.

Could just be a red herring,too!!
