(well looks very likely jax!, looking at both Elizabeth Smiths on 1841, notice addresses in Cottenham and Chesterton both as Back Lane...think this is where Tree owner got confused!)
That marriage also on below

If they have got the data then it is fine.
I tried it for an Ongar district marriage and the ranges it gave me were for Epping and Barking churches.
I would have a better idea of the parish involved if I used the freeBMD district page information: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/district-page-map-index.html

Re my post above of 4 Aug 2014 22:44
I now understand a bit more of what happened. Most of the missing page numbers are unused, even numbered pages for parishes where there were only one or two marriages in that quarter.
That leaves two page numbers (475 & 489) with marriages on which I did not find on the SEAX site.
Page 475 is between Great Bardfield and Bardfield Saling which implies Little Bardfield and on checking there are no on line marriage images for Little Bardfield in 1863.
Page 489 is between Felsted and Leaden Roding (exclusive) and all the main parish churches, in that range, have records which I checked. However Hatfield Broad Oak has two other CofE churches: Holy Trinity at Hatfield Heath which has no marriage records in SEAX, and St John the Evangelist at Bush End which I did not check.
Unfortunately I don't have a current subscription to SEAX so I cannot check that theory at present.

489 could well be Hatfield broad Oak the groom was there in 1861 also probably 1851 but that is one of the missing census's but was born Takeley.... Just noticed she was born Hatfield broad Oak but missing off 1861....that will give me something to do, shall have to look for her :-)

Just got this result
Year entered is out of range 1837-1945.
So they haven't entered, or may be don't intend to, add details after 1945

Ken - There was one other page having 1 marr, viz 499. As this was the last page, it could well be from the registrar's own register.

Thanks mgnv, I had overlooked that.
In alphabetical order there are two parishes after Thaxted: Tilty which did not have any marriages that quarter and White Roding.
The SEAX site does not have any marriage records for White Roding after 1840, so it could be that 499 is for a marriage there.

Jax, I visited the ERO today and checked the marriages at St John the Evangelist, Bush End, Hatfield Broad Oak, and there were no marriages there in Q2 of 1863.
So that leaves Holy Trinity at Hatfield Heath but the marriage records for there are not available at the ERO.

No I haven't got any of the birth certs Chris.... I know I added these when I first started my tree 4 years ago and not really looked at her side since .... Why did I assume Smith when there were two to choose from???
Well thanks for that I can get rid of the dreaded Smith now :-D

I have only just come back on here after changing my tree.... Luckily there wasn't much....there seems to be some rubbish on the ancestry trees and have been going back and forth between fmp, freereg and Ancestry to make sure these marriages, baptisms and burials tallied.... Then see you have added what I have been looking up..... Thanks
I think I have access to katharines tree.... Not that I have looked at it for the last four years.... I only wanted to know if the man she had in her tree was my grandfather..
Once that was sorted, I abandoned my 58 person tree and went elsewhere..... Think her husband is a second cousin of mine

ah Jax!, good to know where others 'fit in', lol.
Will look at Cottenham cd later, and check things over...(usually go through there every fortnight, it's a big place now!)
Chris :)
edits
(from Cottenham cd, just to add, 1853 Marriage, Sarah Peacock above, says Minor for her.
Histon St. Andrew cd (checked after seeing Baptism on FMP, in case relating, as you know, Histon near Cottenham!)
Baptism 1801 Dec 31 Peacock John son of Joseph & Eliz
Marriage 1793 Oct 21 Peacock Joseph (x) Wayman Elizabeth (x) botp wits John Cooke Thomas Hobson
Burial 1847 Oct 8 Peacock Joseph of Chesterton Union Poor House 84
(But, looking at 1841, above John seems to be in Histon, so not your one, as he is in Cottenham 1841!)

Thanks very much Chris
I had a look at katharines tree today, as last night I was on my tablet and it doesn't seem to like Genes trees..... She has Elizabeth Peacock but not gone any further with that line..... Nor the Bishops but I am ok with them
