This is really fascinating. I had come across the Keddy surname and there are some scattered around different counties in Ireland. I met Sarah Jane's son Colin only a couple of months ago he said he couldn't find Priscilla on 1911 Census either. Unfortunately my father died in 2002 and like a lot of people I wasn't curious enough when he was alive. He spent his life in the army and literally travelled the world with only very few visits back to Liverpool. He mentioned another brother called Thomas born 1910 ?? Maybe. I did see a copy of the marriage certificate which called her Aitkin but I will look it out again to see if it said widow. With regard to Zillah and Edna May does it mention their father in the records.

My dad just mentioned a Thomas Wood I didn't meet any of my aunts, his brother Dennis died at sea from friendly fire in 1941. Do you think that baby Alexander might have been called Tom?

One thing you may be able to help with is the Eliza Keddy born Derry Ireland, London, England comment. Why would the record say Derry and London, England? I am going to try and find her in Irish records. The funny thing is my parents moved to Derry in 1959. My dad thought his mother might have come from Dublin. The marriage cert. Says Priscilla Aitkin widow and the witnesses were Francis Hanagan and Mary Rooney and it was a registry office. I do not know about any of Thomas Wood snr.'s relatives that will be another avenue to explore.

Ignore that "Derry Ireland London England"


It was a mis-transcription / mis-understanding by the transcriber of the handwriting on the census image.

London England was added when it should not have been!


I've found a Thomas born in 1915 .................. could your Dad have got the age wrong??



The witnesses on the marriage certificate are Priscilla's youngest brother and her sister Maria Josephine (known apparently as Mary, and on the 1911 Census that Gins found as May)

does the marriage certificate say whether Thomas Wood was a widower????

BTW ................ the records we can see online do not mention a father for Edna, Zillah or Alexander ................ you'd have to buy their birth certificates to see.


Some of the Public Family Trees say that Thomas Wood is the father of Edna and Zillah ......... but I think that is little more than wishful thinking!! They show no documentation!!

Sylvia sorry I didn't reply to your query about the children of Priscilla and Thomas. That list was correct so the Thomas we need to find was born in 1915. Now I am very curious about baby Alexander because the address on the death doc. Is the same one used by both bride and groom at Priscilla and Thomas's wedding Roade Street, Linacre, Litherland. At first I thought that the baby, nephew Alexandra could be through a sister of John Rooney , where Priscilla was staying but then why her address at the baby's death.

Had a look for Eliza Keddy in Derry/Londonderry only found one but born 20 years too late.
