I was wondering that myself Shirley. His father was german and he had a german sirname: Tiencken. I thought he might have changed it WW1 time as a lot of german people did back then. But that is 16 years after he disappeared. I can't find any death record for him, and I've looked at variation of spellings. Can't find him on the 1901 census, there is a Mr Tiencken in Bloomsbury on the 1911 census but it just says 'Mr Tiencken' and gives the address - no other information! |

My paternal grandfather was German he and one of his brothers changed their names from Fahse to Fasey and that was my dads surname from 1907 |

I've found this family before Shirley, can't find any connection to my TIencken's though. Must be a common name in Germany. Carol Appleyard is my sister, and I do have access to her Ancestry site. Like me she can't find George Tiencken after 1893. But all these answers to my question have spurred me on and I'll keep digging. |
