I don't pay anything for my Ancestry sub at all money wise.
I use my Tesco points to buy FTM with free 6 months sub. Ive had essentials, world wide and platinum over the last couple of years.
I just cancel a couple of weeks before renewal date and then buy another copy of FTM. I always activate the sub by phone and the staff are really nice.

Just come home, not as wet as expected.
I'm sorry that posts on here got reported but it would seem Ancestry is playing games with us.
Just checked the cost and now it is back to £83/107/155!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I don't think I've stuffed up - it is Ancestry Stuffing US UP!

I don't think it is renewal rates that are discounted I think Ancestry must be playng games. When I click on the link posted by Tenerife I get exactly as I said in my previous post - £155.40 for Worldwide and £107.40 for Premium.
I am a subscriber but had to sign out before originally finding the rate for renewal.
When I click on the link though I am signed in and it still shows the same amount for subs. I'm not seeing any 6 monthly rates.

Ancestry are definatley playing games - just checked again and got the higher rate.
It all seems to depend on the actual moment you press your keys, one minute one answer, another minute and something else.
A nightmare for people trying to find the best rates to subscribe.

If the price hike is in any way connected with the amalgamation with Familysearch records, it´s a bit cheeky when we can access them for free at the moment & as I understand it, the Mormon church has stated that free access will continue. I´m due to renew in mid October, but will probably only do so for 6 months as the new annual fee is way out of reach. Have been a member for about 10 years & will miss it, but I´m not going to pay the subs at the expense of something more necessary in life.

I've been a Premium subscriber to .co.uk for about 10 years, and just renew at whatever they quote me.
It had gone up from last year when I renewed a couple of months ago.
But I have just discovered something very interesting.
Yesterday, I checked what World would cost me and got the following .............
---------
Incidentally, the site tells me today that I can upgrade to World Deluxe for $29.95 per month. That translates to around $359 for 12 months
Taking about 1.6 as the exchange rate (ie $1.6 to £1), that equates to about £225
------------
I thought it rather strange that I could only get quotes in $
Today, I went back to check, entered via Bookmarks as usual ................ and discovered that I was actually in ancestry.ca
I haven't used it very much for the last few weeks, but have noticed a "difference" .............. never thought to look at the url
They switched me from .co.uk to .ca without me noticing
How weird!
and also .................... .ca is seemingly much more expensive :-(
Just like the Australian site!
On the UK site today, I am offered a special price for Worldwide ................ £12.95 per month, billed in one payment of £155.40. They tell me that is a saving of £72 compared to paying monthly at the regular rate for 1 year.
£155.40 + £72 = £227.40 :-0
now to go and make sure that my Bookmarked is is once again .co.uk! :-)

Sylvia - they frequently try to put me on to the Canadian site but I'll just switch back to U.K. site which I prefer for most of my research. Only use the Canadian site if looking at Canadian records.
The World Deluxe is showing at $24.95 per month for a 12 month sub = about $300. $29.95 per month if you pay monthly.
My sub is due at the end of the month. Last year I got a 50% discount for being a member of the Canadian Legion. Hope I can get the same this year otherwise it ill be TTFN.
Gai - it is always cheaper to subscribe through the U.K.site than Australian or Canadian sites.

yes, they have tried that with me, and I just go to .co.uk .................
but this happened without them asking or giving me the chance to decline.
That's why I think it was so weird!
and feel stupid for not realising that it had happened!

Here's what I see:
All prices in local currency UK Essentials 10.95 pm 83.40 pa Premium 12.95 pm 107.40 pa World 18.95 pm 155.40 pa
US US Discov $19.99 pm $99 per 6m World $29.99 pm $149 per 6m World Plus $39.99 pm $199 per 6m
CA Canada $14.95 pm $38.85 pq $119.40 pa World $29.95 pm $83.85 pq $299.40 pa
AU UK Herit $19.95 pm $199.95 pa [includes "key Australian and UK records", but not UK OPRs nor NZ, IRL] UK Herit Plus $24.95 pm $249.95 pa World $49.95 pm $299.88 pa
============================= In Canada: 100GBP costs C$169.25 US$100 costs C$105.60 AUS$100 costs C$102.70
C$169.25 costs 106.90GBP C$105.60 costs US$105.94 C$102.70 costs AUS112.94 http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/cgi-bin/travel/currency-converter.pl
============================== I presume US and Canadian prices don't include sales tax, and UK does include VAT If I order Essentials/Premium, this has to be via the UK site. It detects I've got a Canadian addy, and knocks off the VAT. However, as seen above, Visa does make some money on the currency conversion that shows up in the rate on my Visa bill.
Well, that's fine enough, but what bugs me is: In Canada: 100GBP costs C$169.25 100GBP buys C$158.33 So if I buy a 100GBP item in the UK, and then return it - wrong size or whatever - Visa tries to ding me C$11 on the exchange (they do fix it after a phone call, but it's a pain nevertheless).
===============================
Sylvia - yeah I always got bounced into Ancestry.ca if I go to the .co.uk home page. It annoyed me, so now I always enter at the .co.uk 1901 search page.

As I said yesterday - the price changes constantly. Before I came onto Genes this morning I checked the co.uk site and the quote was 6 months at the higher price. After the last couple of days I know I will get a different quote at some time today.
Lets just all agree that Ancestry is playing around as none of us are getting the same prices at the same time - therefore causing disagreements.
For overseas members there will always be issues with exchange rates.

I think this will prove Ancestry is playing about. About 50 mins after last post Ancestry.co.uk is now quoting yearly at 99/129/199
I don't think anyone has posted the £129 for premium before.

A few minutes ago - On the UK site after logging out
Essential – 1 Month £9.99……6 months £49 (save £10) Premium – 1 Month £14.99…..6 months £79 (save £10) WW - 1 Month £19.99…..6 months £99 (save £20)
In all cases there is no option to pay an annual fee.
I have until 15 April 2014 until hit by the rise. At the last renewal WW was £154.40
ADDED -that's a 23% increase on the WW annual sub :-|

I can see the WW sub at $299.88 on the .com.au but it says 12 month introductory offer with a saving of $299.00.

I have world subs on the UK site. In the past I have tried ringing to ask for a loyalty discount, but that only worked once. So for the last two years I have let my subs run out, then gone to the Quidco website and clicked on the 20% off offer which is always on there. You pay the full price but get the cashback after a few weeks. I can't remember how much I paid this year without checking, but I remember. that it was less than I expected
