I'm not familiar with FMP ( what does that stand for?) and does it cost to search?
I don't think this is my George as he was bapt. in Owston Jan 1st 1822

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 8 Aug 2013 20:32

FMP is subscription amd the records are the same, GR and FMP are owned by the same company. I took out my subscrition with before GR had access to them.
Although they are the same records the search function is different.

In the 1841 Census a policy of rounding down ages was in place. As such, people aged:

15-19 were recorded as 15
20-24 were recorded as 20
25-29 were recorded as 25
30-34 were recorded as 30
35-39 were recorded as 35...and so on

Isn't it confusing when the same names get handed down from one generation to another? It makes life difficult.

There are about 10 trees on Mundia.com for George.
Most if not all show the same parents.
None show his mother's parents.
I think you should use a map and identify where Elizabeth was born
(Hatfield Woodhouse)? and then measure the distance to the baptism.

Genuki is a good site for finding out about places.

Thank you LadyKira, I'll make a note of those.

Thelma, what can I say, you've certainly thrown a spanner in the works. I've never seen anything about that . I have a small map showing Hatfield and Hatfield Woodhouse and they're very close together.I really don't know how far to backtrack. Is this mundy site a subscription site?

Could you tell me which site you used for that birth ref please. I've searched on Ancestry but haven't found it.

Click on this link for Mundia and sign in using your facebook or Ancestry login details or register. This link is for George Fish.

Edit have removed because it stretched the page.

This link is for Familysearch but I must warn you there are many candidates for Elizabeth.

Thank you Thelma, I've just looked at Mundia. Would you believe the first tree I looked at was like looking at my own, which is private. It took a while to find out who the tree belonged to, but when I did I realised it is a relative, and a lot of the information came from me in the first place. I've just looked at another tree for George and found another family member has put it on..... Where can I look for the birth ref you gave me for Betty please? :-)

That's the one I found recently and thought was the right one. Now I don't think it is because the place isn't the same as on the two censuses I have about Betty. The one Thelma has found looks spot on. I now have to decide whether Betty used the name Elizabeth when she married Robert, and subsequently when she registered the birth of her children. The place Owston is for all these. :-)

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 11 Aug 2013 20:18

I have been looking at the PR's for Owston but they are in poor condition. They are on the Lincs to the past site I posted earlier.
This should take you into burials.

Sorry for delay. I have looked at the records for Owston births some time ago, and they weren't in a good condition either, but I did get George's christening, along with his siblings. I haven't looked at the rest but I will tomorrow, thank you. Everything I have so far fits, with the exception of Betty or Elizabeth. The ref that Thelma gave me fits the bill perfectly. The place is the same as 2 census records, one with her son George and one with her husband. In these three cases she is called Betty. My problem is when Betty becomes Elizabeth. she is called Elizabeth when she married Robert and when her children are christened. Do you think Elizabeth and Betty are the same person? If so, everything fits. Sorry, I've gone on a bit. :-)

These links I've been given have opened my eyes. I've kept my family tree private because I stupidly mixed up the one on my pc which I bought with my online one, both using Ancestry. My own had all living family on it. I didn't realise there were so many other sites. I have given a lot of info to other family members, and got quite a shock to see what looked like my tree somewhere else. To be fair, they have only used the info I passed on, and not about living people, apart from me. So, the info I asked for here still isn't certain, but the nearest I got was from my own. It came full circle.I'm now going to accept the birth ref given to me by Thelma on here, and hope she and Elizabeth are one and the same. Thank you all for your efforts.
