I found on the 1901 Irish census,my husbands' gt grandad was "blind",in the infirmities column.
Interestingly enough,my hubby, and two more relatives had eye problems(one of them going blind too)
I told hubbies consultant about the others, and she said the disease he has(retinitis pigmentosa)is heredetary, and that its almost certain that it was what the others had had,but hadnt been diagnosed

Well!!!!!

Thank you, guys, and thank you Natasha!

First time on site today ........................ and I find that the OP was RR'd and replaced ....... all while I was still asleep :-D

I admit that I did wonder if the OP would be RR'd as I was posting it last night ..................... and did wonder who might do the deed.

So, again thank you, everyone who complained about it, on my behalf.

and a special thank you to Natasha.

I don't understand the "politics" on here....why report someone if all they are doing is trying to help people?

I would recommend other sites if i thought it could help them, and the info wasn't on GR....what would be wrong with that?

All this reporting, makes me think back to infant school......"I'll tell the teacher!"

Please people, just do what you are good at...helping others.

Thankyou anyone who has helped me.

Elaine. ;-)

Elaine

I dont think it's as 'sophisticated' as 'political' but you're right........'playground' stuff

jax

jax Report 25 Apr 2013 20:55

Maybe it was someone who had just noticed there were imbociles in their family and got upset :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Apr 2013 21:01

Elaine ..................

it is nowhere near as sophisticated as "political"

It is someone who has the belief that no other site should be mentioned on here, not even in letting others know where you found the information when helping them, so goes around RR'ing any post that mentions another site(s)

What that person is doing is totally against what GR says can be done .............. and that person has been told that several times, both by GR and those affected by it.

I am 95-99% sure I know who did it, as do several others on this thread .............. and a little bit of a vendetta could also be involved.

Playground stuff, indeed!.

Aaaagh!!! Would you Adam and Eve it! The infirmity column is still blocked off for Great-great-aunt Emily Bessant :)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Apr 2013 21:18

Honestly, Joy???

More contact with them needed then????

Have you checked the original 1911 census site, FMP or GR, to see if it has been uncovered by them?

Gee

Gee Report 25 Apr 2013 21:20

Joy....be patient my dear ;-)

Joy

Joy Report 25 Apr 2013 21:29

Not checked the others yet but have sent a message through ancestry. :-)

Patience is a virtue .... I know ;-)

Aw,Joy...that must be SO disappointing for you.....maybe its being done in stages, and yours will be on soon.

Joy Report 25 Apr 2013 21:45

Thank you, Elaine. When the http://www.1911census.co.uk/ first appeared I looked at direct ancestors and recently started to look at their siblings. I have seen Great-great-aunt Emily's house, and look forward to her census's infirmity column in due course. I am not in a rush :)

Joy

I've looked at all of the Emily Bessants on FMP for 1911. None is recorded as having any infirmity.

Unless you count the one living in Wales, where every member of the household has his/her nationality (English) recorded in the infirmity column!!!!!!
