Although I have no idea where it now is I can still remember the 4 letters and the numbers which followed it from my Identity card.

The same letters and numbers appeared on front of the buff folder containing my medical history notes which was held at my GP's practice. Whenever you visited the practice the receptionist would give you the folder to hand over to the doctor when you were called to enter his surgery. The last time that I would have seen that folder would have been in about 1963 before I moved house, effectively leaving my GP's catchment area. Being blessed with good health I did not need to register with another GP until 1988 and now of course such records are held on computer.

Denis obviously means people quibbling over info from the documents being mentioned. No breach of security whatsoever. - how ridiculous for it to be even discussed

Just thought some people may be interested in where to get the information.

Shazzlou, have you thought to put your great-grandfather's details on here to see if anyone can help find his birth? People on here are good at solving the impossible.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have put messages on here and many people have tried with no success I also hired a researcher and they had no luck either. There is a John Joseph Lewis born Wolverhampton 1868 but he wed a lady named Agnes and my gt grandad wed a lady named Penelope in 1891 in Ireland so its not the same John. My John Joseph Lewis had a father named Joseph who was listed as occupation Blacksmith on marriage certificate of 1891 on his army paper dated 7th Oct 1886 his father was listed as next of kin and living in Jamaica Row Birmingham.

If you search for 'John Lewis' and 'Shazzlou', there are 28 threads, so I think that is probably exhaustive research.
