He may not have known he was born in scotland if he had always lived in Cardiff? |

My grandad's army record says he was born in Stranton, Co. Durham in the north which is where he grew up, but he was actually born in London. I don't think he knew at the time that he had been born in London, but I know he found out later because he sent off to a church in London for his baptism certificate. |

Thankyou Kath, it says on there as well the names of two children which are also correct so i would like to think it is him, too much of a coincidence dont you think? |

Have you looked for his birth record? or found him on any census? |

ErikaH | Report | 13 Sep 2012 22:10 |
The obvious answer is to look for him on a census.............. |

I cant find his birth anywhere even though it says an actual date on his army records..and can only find him on the 1911 census and i have his parents name from his army records? but there seems to be a difference in his age from his marriage and the other certificate i have? I have had help over the years on and off by members of GR to try and find him but with no luck...i just wanted to see if anyone else had come across a wrong place of birth being written down on army records so maybe i can try once more and find him? dont hold my breath though...thankyou |

Hi...I would appreciate anyones helps with finding someone on a census. This is related to the person i have been trying to find above and because he is proving impossible to find i thought i would try a different angle. I have found this census with the family i think could be the william h thompson i am looking for? |

The most probable explanation for Mary b1864 being missing from the 1891 census is that by then she was probably married. |

oh yes very true...thankyou, i was hoping she was married and her married name was thompson and possible that william h is her son and that maybe she is living with her inlaws? all sounds alot of ifs but not being able to find william henrys birth after years of searching i am clutching at straws and also getting myself in a right muddle...as i have said above i have his parents names as mary and alfred? |

Jennifer | Report | 12 Oct 2012 16:57 |
so i need to look at the 1871 census and see if mary is with this family...thankyou for pointing this out... |
