Are you aware of this death? It would make the birth year 1884 so only two years out.

What is the address on the birth certs?

I'm pretty sure that war records would be more factual than the birth certificates!

However, there was more than one Albert Edward Darville born roughly the same time so are you sure the WW1 death is yours?

As she was a married woman...even though her husband had died, she would still really need to use his name

Hello,

I am researching my great grandfather, Albert Edward Darville, born in Willesden in 1882. My grandfather was born in October 1918 and on his birth certificate it says Albert's name as the father. However, I have discovered that Albert died in WW1 in Oct 1917. This is in various records and on the death certificate. He died in Brussels. I have also discovered that his wife Sarah Emily Darville had another child after my grandad, in 1920, who died at birth. On his birth certificate it also states the father as Albert Darville, occupation house painter, which was his occupation before the war! So 3 years after his death she has put him as the father.

Its very annoying as i can't go any further now with my searching. I know i'm clutching at straws but does anyone know how accurate the war death records were, surely not that many years wrong! Do you think women would have put their dead husband down as the father to save her looking bad? I'm certain i've found the right Albert Darville.

Thank you!!
