Anyone know how to find children that are not listed on census yet were born and died in between the census.
I have my great grandparents 1911 census 11 children born to them 6 still living 5 have died of which I have three of them through baptism records but 2 I can not find.
I was wondering is there any way to search through parents names and find the children born to them prior to when the mothers name was given on the indexes any help would be much welcome Peter. ;-)

You could try listing all the deaths between the marriage date of the parents and the 1911 census in that registration district of who died young (Ages are listed) then cross reference these deaths with births that match, that would/should give you a short list of possibles

Thanks Roy I'll try that ,there are to many to apply for certificates about three thousand lol.

There is no easy way of doing this.

If you are lucky enough to have an uncommon name, and they stayed in the same place, then FreeBMD is quite good. You put in just the surname and dates from marriage to 1911, then list all the ones registered in the right place. Then you go through the possibles looking for deaths.

I did this with my great grandparents and found 3 possibles that fitted in the larger gaps between the other children. To confirm your findings though, you will need certificates, unless you can find baptisms.

3 thousand with same surname in one registration district in that time span, it must be a very common name

make sure you list deaths first ( very important )

Edit, If you try listing births first it will take forever because less people die young but all people are born so only cross reference the deaths with births and not the other way round

I was lucky, with an unusual surname I only had about a dozen altogether.

Thank you Roy and Andysmum for your help and the parents names are O'Brien and Smith so now you know how hard this is ha.

and Reggie Liverpool UK father Denis O'Brien born 1860 in Ireland or Liverpool dont know as he gives 3 places of birth on 3 census he must of been on the run lol

Big gap between John and Stephen.........perhaps the missing two were born - and died - in Ireland

Thanks Reggie and Dizzi I have all of them and see what I mean about 3 different places of birth for father.
Now I've been to Ireland to Roses Parish in Ballyjamesduff Cavan and found her family relatives still living in the same house from 200 years + ago
I have all the baptisms in Ireland for Children but no marriage or birth for Denis
I dId get that 1860 certificate for Denis Dizzi and he was born to a Denis O'Brien and Margret Donovan and I looked them up on the 1851 and 1861 census Denis Senior died soon after Denis 1860 birth I have the death certificate .
Now this could be my Denis and the family dissapear off the 1871 census,could they have returned to Ireland and young Denis grew up thinking he was born in Ireland and that is why he keeps putting different places of birth .
Just a thought,
I found no marriage in uk for Denis and Rose Either.

Thanks Dizzi I do have this Winnie 1880 John Denis 1892 ANNE 1884 Stephen 1889 big gap between anne & stephen
in uk I have Rose 1891 Maria 1893 Thomas 1895 Joseph 1899 & Kathleen 1901 if the deaths are in uk they are 1897 or 1903 I think going on thespacing of births ie,every two years.
I have the deaths of all of these except Anne for who I done a search for in Ireland 1884 to 1891 but found no death.
No marriage either for parents .
