James, I looked at all the images for St Mary Magdalene for 1860 - some Joneses but none with the correct name or parents names. Something to bear in mind, children were often baptised sometime after birth, sometimes in a "batch" with later siblings. |

I would guess that Joseph's mother's name was Mary Jane - the same as his sister. |

The "nearest" church to the barracks was almost certainly within the barracks. Most Barracks, Naval Bases and RAF stations had their own places of worship. As it is apparently no longer used by the RA, I would try contacting the Regiment to see if they have their baptism records anywhere. |
