It makes no difference whether your parents were married when he was serving............if your mother was married to him, was still married to him when he died, and is alive, the application will have to come from her. |

As he is your father i presume you would no his dob and his parents names or his wife (next of kin at the time he joined) these should help with their search for him as these details will be in his records |

I applied to the Grenadier Guards some years ago for WW2 service records. I didn't have the Regimental number but they still supplied me with the records - hope this will be the same for you! |

Patricia, what your mother said about father not present to register the birth's is correct, if your parents were not married he would have to be present at the registry office to sign the register, |

When joining the service your father would have HAD to give details of a next of kin.......if only for notification in the event of his death. |
