Could someone please find Samuel Arrowsmith born( 1856) and his wife Nancy ( born 1859 ) in the 1891 and 1901 census returns as I am trying to track down where they were living at these times. They were living At 4 Bury Lane, Culcheth in Lancashire in 1861 and 71 and at a Farm in Lancashire the name of which annoyingly I can't decipher in 1881. In 1891, they would have had two children - Mary Ellen born in1882 and Margaret born in 1886. In 1901, they would have had a third child, Harry, born in 1895. I have all census information from 1861, 1871, 1881(apart from the name of the farm!) and 1911, but Genes site claims no record for 1891 and 1901. This has happened to me before on searches for other family members. Why is this? |

Thank you Maddie, who should be renamed greased lightening! Boarded Barn was the name I couldn't decipher. How come you could!? Much appreciated. |

Blimey, you people are so quick, I can't type my thank you replies up quick enough. Flippin' eck indeed Andy-where did that name come from!? No wonder I found nothing. The question is, how on earth did you?? You are fast becoming my personal searcher, perhaps I should just address my queries to you directly on the message boards. Seriously though, once again thank you very much. |

Note for Andy. If you're sending amendments (to where, I know not!) the place of birth Is Glazebury, not Glasbury. Cheerio for now, Lynn |

I can accept that this was a particularly unusual search due to the creative reworking of the surname for which you and Colin should be presented with Super Sleuth awards, but I've found that some straightforward searches just aren't available on the Genes site which is the only one I'm a member of. |

Thanks for that Colin. I guess it's worth joining another site in addition to Genes in order to obtain a better search facility. On the other hand, I've had such wonderful service from the ever so helpful folks on this site!!!!! |

Just kidding jax. For reasons of coincidence, although I've only been a member since April, poor Andy seems to have been on the Board whenever I've had a query. I suggested to him that I was probably going to have to put him on my payroll! |

For background information (and sometimes transcriptions) type the name of the Parish into your search engine, eg Glazebury Parish Records online: |
